Rumor: Move over Galaxy S, Samsung to launch Galaxy F series of premium devices
Sep 26th 2013, 19:03, by Dustin Earley

Samsung has taken the world by storm with its Galaxy line of products. From the Galaxy S, to the Galaxy Note, Samsung is a world leader in smartphones. But they still can’t quite seem to get the whole quality materials thing down. With every new Galaxy S and Note release, there’s a rumor that Samsung is switching to a new premium design. And every time, Samsung introduces yet another slimy plastic device. Well, don’t get your hopes up for a premium aluminum Galaxy S 5 anytime soon, but the Galaxy F might be just what you’re looking for.

Citing industry sources, ETNews.com is saying that early next year, Samsung will be introducing a new series of devices to their Galaxy line of products. Seated below the Note in size, and above the Galaxy S in quality, the Samsung Galaxy F will be Samsung’s answer to those of us who have been begging the company to lose the shiny plastic trim.

The Galaxy F will reportedly feature a new, sleek, metal design, along with top-of-the-line internals. This move would still keep the Note firmly positioned where it’s been sitting since its arrival, as an interesting yet popular niche device, but would push Galaxy S devices into a more consumer friendly position. A Galaxy F will also give Samsung three flagship devices that can be spread out throughout the year to better compete with the likes of LG, HTC, Sony and Apple.

For right now this is all still a rumor; one we’d particularly like to see come true. I’ve been using a Galaxy S 4 for some time now, and as much as I like the device, it’s hard not to be envious of HTC One and iPhone 5 users. I know a lot of you don’t agree and actually like the plastic housing and all the perks that come along with it (removable battery), but there is a market for more premium Samsung devices. All Samsung needs to do is release one.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition to launch October 10 in US
Sep 26th 2013, 18:07, by Dima Aryeh

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, aside from having a really long ridiculous name, is basically a giant Galaxy Note 3 with a high res display. The tablet features a 10.1-inch 2560 x 1600 Super Clear LCD panel, an Exynos Octa Core (or a Snapdragon 800 for the LTE model), 3GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage with a microSD slot, and of course, the S Pen. But is it worth upgrading from the previous Galaxy Note 10.1?

The previous model came with a quad core Exynos processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 1280 x 800 display (which many consider to be quite low-end by today’s standards). The new one sure bests it in specs, and if you have a good chunk of money lying around, it might be worth the upgrade. However, be warned that there are physical buttons on this device, which may not really suit you.

There are also a lot of new software features. The tablet will be running Android 4.3 with all of Samsung’s newest features centered around the S Pen, including Air Command, Action Memo and the redesigned S Note.

The device will be launching on October 10 for $549.99 for the 16GB model and $599.99 for the 32GB model. Quite a high price for a 10-inch tablet, if you ask me. You can also pre-order tomorrow on September 27 if you want to reserve one, though I doubt demand will be high. Will you be getting one?

To complement the high-resolution display, Samsung introduces a new magazine-style user interface called My Magazine. By allowing users to organize the latest news, social feeds and localized content in an easy-to-use, personalized dashboard on a Super Clear LCD, the Galaxy Note 10.1 – 2014 Edition reinvents how consumers interact with their tablets.

The new Galaxy Note 10.1 is powered by an Exynos® 5420 quad-core processor and 3GB RAM for faster web browsing and multitasking, with rich HD graphics for the best gaming experience. Enhanced multitasking allows users to seamlessly use two different applications side-by-side and easily drag and drop content from one window to another. What's more, certain apps, such as YouTube and Internet, can now be activated simultaneously in both windows.

Enhanced Suite of S Pen Features

The Galaxy Note 10.1 – 2014 Edition comes equipped with an updated S Pen that provides a more responsive, productive and overall efficient tablet experience. The enhanced S Pen also introduces several shortcuts and productivity tools at consumers' fingertips, including:

· Air Command provides instant access to S Pen features, including Action Memo, Scrapbooker, Screen Write, S Finder and Pen Window all in a convenient hover and click of the button on the S Pen from any point on the screen.

· Action Memo gives users a quick way to take a note and link that note to a direct action, instantly perform a task, such as searching the Internet or emailing a contact.

· Scrapbooker capabilities let users organize interesting content with the S Pen and place it into individualized scrapbooks. This feature affords users an easy and functional way to use the S Pen to grab and store videos, photos and clips from Web pages that are linkable back to the original online source. With Scrapbooker, users keep all boards private and then easily choose which content to share.

· Screen Write lets users easily take a screen capture and edit the shot.

· S Finder allows users to search the entire device, including handwritten notes and settings, connected accounts and the web through key words or handwritten symbols.

· Pen Window effortlessly enhances productivity with a stroke of the S Pen. The feature lets users draw a window on screen using the S Pen, which opens a selection of applications, and then minimize it to hover on any screen as the user interface is navigated; perfect for opening a calculator on top of a spreadsheet or quickly setting an alarm.

· S Note enhancements include a more intuitive and easy-to-use interface. Users still have the ability to use the S Pen to take handwritten notes, or use handwriting-to-text, with access to both note files and notepads. With Easy Chart, hand-drawn data can be instantly transformed into more formal charts and graphs.
