| ADVENT Vega Tegra Note 7 unveiled with Tegra 4 and 7″ display Nov 6th 2013, 15:33, by Robert Nelson ADVENT has unveiled the Vega Tegra Note 7 this morning, which as the name would suggest, this is a 7-inch tablet powered by an NVIDIA Tegra processor. For now it looks like the release is limited to those in the UK and by way of retailers to include Currys and PC World. Availability aside, the Vega Tegra Note 7 will be sporting a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 (215 ppi) and arrive powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor. 
The Tegra 4 has a 72-core GeForce GPU and quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU with the fifth battery-saver core. According to details coming from ADVENT, this makes the Vega Tegra Note 7 the “world’s fastest 7-inch Android tablet.” This tablet will also be one to arrive with a stylus. Specifically, the NVIDIA DirectStylus. The tablet will be running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean at launch and arriving with other hardware to include 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 2 megapixel front-facing camera and a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera. There will also be WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB and microHDMI. Other details of the tablet have it landing with NVIDIA PureAudio which will be paired with the front-facing stereo speakers (complete with a bass-reflex port), a battery life that is said to be good for “10-plus hours of HD video playback” and TegraZone gaming. This tablet also looks like it will bring the Android release of Camera Awesome. SmugMug has said the Camera Awesome app was heading to Android in the past, however they have always been quiet on the date. While SmugMug has yet to offer a general Camera Awesome release date, we do know the Vega Tegra Note 7 will be launching in the UK on November 15th. The tablet will be priced at £179.99 and pre-orders will begin on November 7th. |  | CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 Kit Kat code push has begun Nov 6th 2013, 14:59, by Robert Nelson This is still very early days, however it does appear as if the Cyanogen team has begun working on CM11. Or more specifically, CM11, which is based on Android 4.4 Kit Kat. Getting this out in the beginning, the team hasn’t offered anything in terms of dates just yet, but they have offered some basics in terms of details. 
Coming by way of a recent Google+ posting, the folks at Cyanogen have said they “have begun the initial push of CM 11 (Android 4.4 KitKat) branches and code to our repositories.” Again, this doesn’t mean anything is available for use just yet. In fact, it may be some time before a ROM arrives for a wide variety of devices. To that point, as we have seen in the past, it looks like the first devices will be Nexus branded. A posting in the comments asked for the initial device list and the reply was a simple Nexus.” Otherwise, there was talk of some features and it was said that “a lot” of the features survived the jump to 4.4, but a “handful” did not make it. The Cyanogen team hasn’t offered a full list of those impacted features, however they have said some of the items include Trebuchet, the Phone app and the Lockscreen. Otherwise, aside from looking forward to CM11, there is still plenty to enjoy with current builds. We recently saw the release of CM10.2 M1 which arrived with support for more than 70 devices. SOURCE: +CyanogenMod | | SwiftKey 4.3 exits beta, brings the added keyboard layouts to the Play Store Nov 6th 2013, 14:31, by Robert Nelson SwiftKey 4.3 arrived in beta form back in October. And with what appears to have been a successful few weeks in beta, the 4.3 release has graduated and arrived in the Play Store. The folks at SwiftKey have dubbed the 4.3 release as being one that has “Layouts for Living.” To that point, SwiftKey 4.3 brings a few options for keyboard layouts. 
This release means users will be able to choose between three different keyboard options. These include the full (regular) layout as well as the thumb and compact options. The full keyboard option includes and extended layout for those rocking a tablet, and otherwise, the thumb keyboard splits things in two for easier two-thumb typing. The compact layout shrinks the keyboard down and has it placed to the left or right — this one is good for one-handed use, especially when trying to type on a larger device such as the Galaxy Note 3. In addition, all three keyboard options can be resized and also undocked. Accessing the different options (as well as the Settings and Themes) is done by pressing and holding the “SwiftKey 123″ key in the lower left. This 4.3 release also added a Canadian English language model, which according to SwiftKey, that is a first. An example here is that the keyboard should now be able to understand local place names and personalities. It was said that “Canadian users who type "Stephen" will be more likely than American English users to be talking about Prime Minister Stephen Harper than author Stephen King.” That all being said, we did spend a bit of hands-on time with SwiftKey 4.3 when it was first released in beta form.
