Tenqa Remxd bluetooth headphones review Posted: 31 May 2012 02:10 PM PDT Like the idea of over-the-ear cans but hate dealing with cords? Check out Tenqa's Remxd bluetooth headphones which provide a wallet-friendly wireless connection to your Android device. We've had a chance to play with a pair of these over the last few weeks and have come to appreciate them for their ease of use and functionality. Priced at $39.99, the Tenqa Remxd headphones should fit into just about anyone's budget. We were not all that familiar with the Tenqa name on the outset of our review, and suspect you might not be either. Nevertheless a quick search told us that this was not their first foray into wireless gadgets and that they had already produced a number of other accessories. We found that the Tenqa Remxd headphones paired easily with our phones and tablets and all connections held strong until we manually disconnected. There are a number of buttons or toggles on the left ear, including power, volume, track advancement, and call answer. Yes, not only are these a good value for listening to music and podcasts, but they can also make and receive phone calls. In terms of volume and sound quality we liked what we heard, however we could do with just a little bit more "oomph". While the headphones are designed to fit pretty much any sized head, the cups themselves are a touch too small for our liking. Perhaps that's why we found volume levels low; external noise was able to seep in. The Tenqa Remxd headphones come in two color options, black and white. Initially excited about the clean look and aesthetic, we later found that they can collect dirt and oils pretty easily. If color doesn't matter much to you then go with the black. That is, unless you plan on using these in sterile environments and don't anticipate sweating or getting too active. After a few weeks of regular use during yard work, mowing, jogging, and traveling, we noticed that the synthetic material had developed a bit of off-white look. Had we known going in, we would have used these in a more limited capacity where we might not get our hands literally dirty. We should also point out that when we set our headphones on a bookshelf for a few days it seems to have pulled the reddish oak color into the underside of the headband. It's unclear whether this was related to them being put there immediately after wearing them. Maybe they were a tad sweaty after mowing the grass? As far as build quality goes, these never felt cheap to us in any capacity. The buttons are firm and responsive and the stitching is clean and precise. And where we though the wire hanger-like materials would bend or break, they have held up quite well. All said and done, we were actually impressed with the Tenqa Remxd bluetooth headphones and would consider them a good buy at the price. Whereas it was a bit foreign to move through airports and taxis without being tethered to a phone, this is now the way we like to travel. These also make a good companion for sitting on the back deck, catching up on podcasts and audiobooks. You can order the headphones directly through Tenqa, Amazon, and other online outlets. ASUS planning to new Transformer tablets for Computex Posted: 31 May 2012 10:07 AM PDT It seems that ViewSonic is not the only one that will be introducing new stuff at the Computex on June 5, as ASUS is also planning to bring some new goodies to the event. Anyway, check out the video below: Computex is taking place in Taipei, Taiwan - And we all know that Taiwan is home to ASUS, so there are chances that we will be seeing some good stuff. However, there's a possibility that the tablets might be limited to Taiwan or the Asian region, but let's wait for the event and see what ASUS got for us. Rumored quad-core ZTE Athena is only 6.2mm thick Posted: 31 May 2012 08:50 AM PDT The trend of smartphones getting slimmer isn't likely going anywhere any time soon. Over time we've seen them cut down by half, more famously and notably with models like the Motorola Droid RAZR. Yes, there have been a couple of handsets that come in even thinner, but all of those are about to get beaten. According to the leaked shot above, it seems that ZTE will be launching the slimmest Android powered device to-date, even more so than the Huawei Ascend P1 S. Engadget spotted some shots of this rumored ZTE Athena, which is said to be only 6.2mm thick. About the specs, word is that it will feature a 720p display, Cortex-A15 chip, and up to 64GB of internal storage. The processor will be multi-core, according to Engadget source. Also the device will feature MiFlavor UI - which was showcased at MWC running on the ZTE Era. After their first ever superphone the ZTE Era, there are chances that this device might be its next flagship, as the specs are really spectacular. I think its time we stop thinking about ZTE as yet another Chinese brand, and consider them a dark horse in the Android race. Tell us what you think about the Athena, and ZTE in general, in the comments below. Source: Engadget Rumored quad-core ZTE Athena is only 6.2mm thick originally appeared on AndroidGuys. Keep in mind that SGH-i747 variation of the GALAXY S III will be available from Bell Mobility, Virgin Mobile, SaskTel, TELUS and Rogers Wireless and SGH-iT999 model will be available from Videotron, Wind and Mobilicity. ASUS Nexus tablet benchmarks outed, featuring Jelly Bean Posted: 31 May 2012 08:14 AM PDT Google I/O is less than a month away and things are getting pretty hot around here. Google will be introducing a lot of stuff related to Android, one of them is expected to be the new Android OS, and another might be the first tablet to run that OS. We know that Google and ASUS are planning to bring this long-rumored tablet out, and word on the street is that around 600,000 Google Nexus tablets will be shipped in June. Now things are getting more realistic as RightWare Benchmark spilled some beans. They outed the test of a 7-inch tablet listed as Google Asus Nexus 7, and according to Android Police, it's running on Android 4.1, or what's is presumably Jelly Bean. Google and ASUS, both are aiming to launch an affordable tablet with specs that will make you go "wow". It's reported so far that it will come with 7-Inch display with 786x1280 resolution, a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, and Android 4.1/Jelly Bean, though both names for the OS are not finalized yet. As I said affordable, there are chances that this tablet will cost around $250, which will be good enough for Google to take down the Apple iPad, which is actually its biggest rival. ASUS is right now one of the leading and fastest growing tech brands, and their recent launches are loved by a lot of critics, so I am pretty sure that the tablet ASUS and Google are cooking will be a true rocker. Anyway, if Google launches this tablet with an affordable price tag, would you be the first one to grab it? Tell us in the comment box below.
