This Day in Android: Android 1.0 SDK released (2008) Posted: 23 Sep 2012 05:00 AM PDT Can you believe that it has been four years since the first software development kit (SDK) was released for Android? Wowzers. Yes, our favorite mobile platform was released into the wild four years ago today, as we were informed by Google’s own Dan Morrill. With 600,000 Android apps and counting, things have certainly developed (pun intended) quite a bit in the ensuing years.
