New Optimus G Nexus details suggest wireless charging, no microSD Posted: 05 Oct 2012 07:51 AM PDT New details have emerged surrounding the so-called LG Optimus G Nexus smartphone ahead of its rumored fall debut. MoDaCo Forums’s is today reporting some of the hardware goods (or bads?) for the next Pure Google experience. According to their sources, the handset is based on the Optimus G but will not have the same physical appearance. Most of the specs line up with the recently-introduced device save for a few tweaks. Some will love the wireless charging out of the box while others will loathe the storage capacity and non-removable battery and lack of microSD expansion.
While we’re on the subject, you ought to check out our podcast from last night where we discuss the hardware of the Nexus device of 2012-2013. Listen to The Nexus Ultimatum and hear what we value in terms of features and minimum expectations. Would we trade off battery over storage or expansion? Tune in to find out! Jukebox tosses its hat into ring of cloud-based media players Posted: 05 Oct 2012 07:34 AM PDT Looking for another way to stay connected to your ever-growing music collection but hate sitting around the old boombox? Consider Jukebox, a new Android app (in preview) that automatically keeps your music in the cloud, synchronizing tracks, playlists, ratings, and more. Stuff from your phone updates to your PC while stuff from your PC talks to your phone. The developers advise this is not the final release and that things are subject to the occasional glitch. Feedback is certainly appreciated and can be directed to team@stylejukebox.com. What music player are you using today? Does it have cloud-based sync? We’d love to hear what other apps you’ve encountered along the way to cover your music needs. Leave a comment below with your pick(s)! Google set unveil Snapseed for Android? Posted: 05 Oct 2012 06:21 AM PDT Google may be close to releasing its version of the Snapseed mobile app, if new chatter is to be believed. A few of Vic Gundotra’s followers (Google+) noticed a small detail yesterday when he posted a photo to his account with a tiny reference to the app. As a quick refresher, Google acquired Snapseed’s developer, Nik Software, in September. Perhaps as a way to peel off a few iOS photo lovers, it’s also possible that Google wanted to bolster its arsenal with an Instagram-like experience for Google+. Whatever the case, Google promises that users will be able to “create photos they absolutely love” with Nik’s “high-end tools and plug-ins.” Almost universally loved, Snapseed for Android gets us excited, regardless of heavy Google+ ties or not. There are some outlets reporting that this Snapseed app will have tight integration with Google+, something one might logically expect. That said, there’s also a chance that this particular image was uploaded via iPhone. Another possibility is that Google+ is just showing that the photo was shared via Snapseed as a standalone app. Be sure to follow AndroidGuys on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube! |
