Nvidia’s Tegra 4 and Tegra 4i benchmarked at MWC 2013 [Video] Posted: 24 Feb 2013 02:41 PM PST NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 and Tegra 4i processors were demoed today at MWC in Barcelona. NVIDIA’s new processors have been said to be more efficient with battery life while simultaneously delivering supreme performance for future smartphones and tablets. The Tegra 4, based on ARM’s latest Cortex A-15 platform, was benchmarked at 4,166 using the Geekbench 2 benchmark. To put things into perspective Google’s flagship 7-inch tablet , the Nexus 7, scored a 1,536 which is far from bad compared to the current array of tablet. The Tegra 4 chip also takes advantage of the emerging 1080p screens that we are seeing on tablets and smartphones, producing elements like accurate shadow detailing, smooth and high frame rates and high definition graphics capabilities. While ordinarily this might take a toll on battery life, the Tegra 4 works to save around 25 percent battery life on devices running the processor. The Tegra 4i processor was also shown at MWC and while not much was said about the processor in terms of benchmarks, it has been noted that the 4i is meant for mid-range tablets and smartphones. It features a quad-core CPU, but less GPU cores than the Tegra 4, while delivering 2.3GHz clock speeds.

ZTE Grand S smartphone to be moderately priced, so says a ZTE executive Posted: 24 Feb 2013 11:07 AM PST
ZTE’s Grand S smartphone may feature some premium specs, but it will at least feature a fairly reasonable price that won’t break the bank too much— well for those living in China at least. According to mobile division lead He Shiyou, the smartphone will be priced somewhere between ¥3,000 to ¥3,500 (about $481 to $561 USD), which can be considered an absolute steal considering the device has features such as a 5-inch 1080p display, 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip and a whopping 13MP camera. As exciting as that tidbit of news is, there’s no word on whether or not the same pricing will apply to other markets outside of China. Here’s hoping that we do end up seeing the Grand S having a low price because after all— the low, low pricing will certainly help the brand get some added exposure out in places like the States that it is looking for and all.

LG Optimus G2 to launch at IFA 2013 with LG’s in house processor Posted: 24 Feb 2013 10:49 AM PST Recent reports from Korea suggest that LG is planning to manufacture its own processors for its upcoming LG Optimus G2. This comes from a telephone conversation from an anonymous LG official in Korea:
This report also states that the LG processors will be called “Odin” and will feature 28-nanometer technology. This shift to producing their own processor seems like LG is trying to compete more aggressively with Samsung and with good reason; LG is responsible for the production of Google’s latest flagship phone, the Nexus 4 which has been popular since its launch. I’m sure many of you were hoping the Optimus G2 would be released sooner, but it makes sense for LG to launch it during this time as it is around the one-year anniversary of the original Optimus G launch Do you think LG is making a good move by producing its own processors? Let us know what you think in the comments below. Source: KoreanTimes
