Verizon hits 500 LTE markets; VoLTE-compatible phones due 2014 Posted: 27 Jun 2013 10:14 AM PDT Verizon announced this week that the carrier now has 500 markets across the United States which offer 4G LTE speeds. Parkersburg, W.Va., became the lucky city to see the monumental mark and will play host to a number of related activities from Verizon over the coming days. After getting underway in December 2010, Verizon’s 4G LTE network is now considered “substantially complete” as it covers more than 99 percent of Verizon Wireless' 3G network. “We will want to go big with this…We’re working aggressively now.” Looking ahead, Verizon recently indicated that Voice over LTE (VoLTE) phones will be coming by the end of 2014. These data-driven devices will allow users to talk and browse the web at the same time. AT&T, for its part, has not been shy about promoting this particular feature in their ad campaigns over the last few years. Rather than rolling out individual markets with VoLTE, it’s more akin to flipping a giant “on/off” switch. In other words, all of those under the LTE coverage will be able to pair better quality voice and data services at the same time.

Rumored Motorola DVX created for emerging markets Posted: 27 Jun 2013 07:39 AM PDT According to recent rumors, Google and Motorola may have a brand new device in the works. The mystery device has been code-named the DVX, which is slated to follow the Moto X and be an extremely cheap device aimed at emerging markets. This means no Snapdragon 800 CPU with a 4k screen, however don’t let that fool you. If all goes as planned, the DVX could be what is missing in such a tech-savvy world. Sources for Phone Arena don’t have a lot of information about the DVX quite yet, but they say that it is planned for release later this year, and would be ultra low-cost option for those in the world who don’t have (or can’t afford) smartphones that are currently on the market. In all honesty this really is a smart move for Google. The more people that have smartphones and internet access, the more people are going to bring in money through Google's ad services. In all honesty, it's a win-win situation. This is all we know for now. As soon as we receive any more info on the rumored DVX we will be sure to update you.

LG G2 leaked with Snapdragon 800 processor Posted: 26 Jun 2013 01:07 PM PDT LG recently confirmed that Snapdragon 800 will hit the next-gen ‘G’ series smartphone, and I guess the phone LG was talking about is the LG G2. Once again, @evleaks got their hands on shots of the G2, and thanks to them, we can now see several shots of the LG G2. Well, it seems like it has a really thin bezel, and on the bottom, its either a home button or a LG logo; though more looks like a logo. Whats interesting here is the back of the phone. If you look at the camera bump closely, under the camera sensor, there’s a visible ‘plus’ button, then something ‘unidentified’ and then a ‘minus’ button. Well, people are saying that it is the volume rocker, and that’s really an odd place to put one though. So, by giving it the benefit of doubt, maybe LG is bringing in something entirely different and new. Anyway, I guess we might see an amazing smartphone from LG soon, a device good enough to go head-to-head with Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. Share your thoughts with us in the comment box below.
