276 Galaxy Note 3 APKs apparently spotted: Fingerprint Service one of them Sep 3rd 2013, 13:05, by Chris Smith A well-known source for mobile leaks has posted an image that lists 276 APKs reportedly found on the Galaxy Note 3, although it's not clear where he got the picture from. High bloatware levels? @evleaks, which has been mostly accurate with previous leaks, has posted two images on its Twitter account, one showing a partial lists containing 50 APKs for the Galaxy Note 3 and the second one listing 276 APKs for the handset. Does that mean the Galaxy Note 3 will come packed with a lot of bloatware? Not necessarily. https://twitter.com/evleaks/status/374708687509532672/photo/1 It's likely that Samsung will introduce plenty of apps made for the Galaxy Note 3 once the phone is official, and it's also likely that carriers will have their own apps preloaded on the Galaxy Note 3 units they'll sell. For what it's worth, the list contains plenty of Samsung apps, including S Pen-related APKs and even KNOX APKs. But we can't confirm how many such apps will be pre-installed. The screenshot can't be confirmed at this time, and while it's likely it comes from a Galaxy Note 3, we'll remind you that the handset has been in testing so far, and the source doesn't mention more details about the device that had all these APKs on it. At this time, it's not known how much storage the base Galaxy Note 3 will have to offer – some rumors say that there won't be a 16GB version at all, as Samsung may move to 32GB memory for the cheapest Galaxy Note 3 versions. Rumored: 276 APKs on the Galaxy Note 3 (click for bigger image) | Image credit: @evleaks We'll remind you that Galaxy S4 buyers didn't appreciate the memory storage available to the user on the handset, and Samsung may be interested in preventing such issues with future flagship devices including the Galaxy Note 3. What about fingerprint-reading support? As you can see in the list above, there's a FingerprintService.apk in there that seems to suggest the handset will pack some sort of fingerprint-reading support. Is that a hidden Galaxy Note 3 feature that existing leaks missed, or is it just an app installed on the handset? Sam Mobile's insider says that the handset will not have fingerprint-reading support, and we’ll note that the publication has been pretty accurate when it comes to revealing details about unannounced Samsung devices. However, Samsung was rumored a few times to consider adding fingerprint-related features to future handsets – something some of its rivals (including Apple) are already working on. The Galaxy Note 3 will become official tomorrow, and Android Authority will be there to offer you a hands-on experience of the new flagship handset, at which point we'll be able to tell you more about pre-loaded apps, storage and fingerprint scanners.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Renders Surface with Price Details Sep 2nd 2013, 21:49, by Thijs Koot Like we have become used to by now, a few renders of the new iteration of Samsung’s phablet line have been leaked to the public. Unconfirmed renders floating around aren’t exactly a novelty but determining whether or not a render is real can be tricky. This time it appears the renders are real, given the fact that we’ve already seen leaked front panels and frames which match up pretty well to these images. According to these renders we will receive a thin and more rectangular shape with a smaller bezel, which means the device might get an ever larger screen without growing too much, which is always welcome for this type of machinery. If you take a look at the images below you might notice it is looking very similar to some Apple devices, which is a risky move for Samsung considering the lawsuit they lost and the huge fine that followed. Having said that, if the alleged pricetag for Russia is used for the rest of the world as well, Samsung might be able to pay that fine easily if this unit sells good enough: The price for Russia is said to be 29 900 rubles, or around and about 900 dollars. Considering Russia is a pretty expensive market, this will probably translate to 700 dollars for the US and the rest of the world so don’t worry, you won’t have to use your credit card to the limit in order to afford this combination between a phone and a tablet. LG G2 releasing in the US and Germany this month, global rollout to follow Sep 3rd 2013, 10:51, by Ankit Banerjee The LG G2 may have traveled up to the stratosphere, but back on the ground, we still don’t know when we, or rather, those of us outside South Korea (where the smartphone has already released), can get our hands on the highly-anticipated device. We know that pre-order pages for the LG G2 have gone up in the UK (Clove), and in the US for the unlocked version, along with a sign-up page for the Verizon version, which indicates that the smartphone is on its way soon. How soon? At some point this month! LG Electronics has announced in a press release that the LG G2 will be releasing in two of the company’s key markets, the US and Germany, at some unknown point in September, with a global rollout to follow soon after. Verizon already has the sign-up page for the G2 online, which also promises an exclusive wireless charging feature, and we know that all other major network carriers in the US will be selling the LG G2 as well. Following the official press release from LG, we can expect to see similar announcements from the network providers soon as well. More pics of NVIDIA's Tegra Tab appear as it passes through Taiwan's NCC Sep 3rd 2013, 09:12, by Gary Sims Rumors of NVIDIA’s plans to enter the tablet market with a 7-inch tablet called the Tegra Tab have been circulating for about a month now. And along with some teaser shots of the back of the device, complete with the Tegra Tab name, the device has also been spotted in AnTuTu benchmark listings. Now the first official confirmation that the tablet exists has appeared due to filing information seen from Taiwan’s NCC. NVIDIA is listed as the tablet’s designer and the model number is reported as P1640. The data also shows that the device includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. But that is all that the NCC reveals in terms of any specs for the device. However the rulers placed next to the device show that this is a seven inch tablet. The picture above shows the back of the tablet and if you look down at the bottom it appears that the tablet has a slot designed to hold a stylus. At the heart of the tablet is thought to be NVIDIA’s latest System-on-a-Chip, the Tegra 4 – running at 1.8GHz. Shipping with Android 4.2.2, previous rumors also suggest that the tablet’s display will have a resolution of 1280 x 736 and that the device will include a 5-megapixel rear camera and a micro HDMI port. The intended market for the device is still unclear. Is NVIDIA trying to compete with Google and the Nexus 7 range? Is this is a development device for those writing apps for the NVIDIA Shield? Pricing will of course be the key point. If NVIDIA thinks it can make a better tablet than the Nexus 7 (2013) for a reasonable price then it will be interesting to see it action!

Sony QX Lens Camera phone attachments give a more camera-like feeling Sep 3rd 2013, 08:08, by Juan Carlos Torres Yesterday, we got a glimpse of a bunch of leaked photos of Sony‘s upcoming “Lens Camera” accessories and discovered that the device can be used while not attached to a smartphone. That is only half of the story though, and the other half involves how the lenses can be attached to a smartphone if one wants to. The Sony camera lenses, which also go by the name of “Lens G” in rumors, have been part of what seems to be Sony’s camera-oriented lineup of devices, which includes the Sony Xperia Honami that is rumored to sport a 20 megapixel camera. Sony has been reported to be preparing two models, the QX10 and the QX100, with both sporting features such as a built-in microphone, zoom lever, shutter button, and a memory card slot. It seems that Sony is offering two ways to use the lenses that would give users a more traditional camera feeling. The Sony QX10, the low-end model of the two camera lenses, seems to be meant to connect to a smartphone via a clip attachment that clamps on to the rear of the phone. On the other hand, the higher-end QX100 is seen to connect to a slot at the back of a special smartphone case. There are still many questions left unanswered by the photos, such as whether the two attachment methods are interchangeable between the two different models or if there are special attachments made for tablets. We might not have to wait much longer for answers as Sony is expected to unveil the lenses in a few days at IFA in Berlin. Bringing the elegant style and awesome features from their popular HTC One series to the mid-range and budget market, sort of. Today we have all the details on the new HTC Desire 601 and budget-aimed Desire 300. Above is the better of the two devices being announced today, which is the Desire 601. Following along the footsteps of previous Desire handsets, only improved in all key areas to continue with the One styling and next-gen features. Some of those include Boomsound front facing speakers, HTC Zoe camera features, Blinkfeed and more. The Desire 601 aims to bring that premium HTC experience to the budget and mid-range crowd, and it certainly appears to be doing so. Delivering a 4.5-inch qHD 540 x 960 resolution display, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 1.4 GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM. The rear features a 5 megapixel camera, no Ultrapixel, and there’s no mention of the battery size or internal storage limit. However, it offers 4G LTE, probably will have a dual-SIM variant, and we’re expecting Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on board complete with Sense 5. Then the second device announced today (above) is the entry-level low end Desire 300. We saw an unknown HTC phone last week, and now can confirm that was indeed the Desire 300. The previous specs weren’t accurate though, and HTC confirmed a few details today. Those being a 4.3-inch 480 x 800 resolution display, and a 1.0 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor. Likely that is the Snapdragon 200, but it doesn’t specifically state. You’ll enjoy 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and of course the same Blinkfeed and other Sense 5 UI features. That’s all HTC had to say about the Desire 300, and as you can see from the images it doesn’t enjoy the Boomsound front facing speakers like the HTC One, or today’s newly announced Desire 601. According to HTC both devices will be available in mid to late October in select markets, and we’ll update with more details and pricing as soon as the word gets out.
