Samsung considering more Galaxy S III colors Posted: 13 Jul 2012 03:33 PM PDT AT&T has already started taking pre-0rders for their "exclusive" Garret Red GSIII, and now a "Korean Manufacturer" has hinted to Pocket-Lint that other color schemes are being considered. No word yet on exactly what colors Sammy has in mind, but there are only so many colors in the rainbow that would look good on a smartphone. White, Pebble Blue, and Garret Red are all fine and dandy, but what else could be done, that doesn't look ridiculous? All that's known at the moment is what Pocket-Lint heard from a UK Samsung rep, who claimed,
So, now we wait. But in the meantime, what colors could you see on the Galaxy S3? What colors do you hope Samsung stays away from? Sound off in the comments! Boeing 787 Dreamliner jets to have entertainment systems running Android Posted: 13 Jul 2012 05:11 AM PDT When you're travelling, especially by plane, the experience has the capacity to be awful. Crying kids (even if they're yours!), loud / rude passengers, expensive food, or even people burping the whole flight that smells like bologna and Red Hots (hail to our Chief Editor's last experience)... it can be a downright bad time. Fortunately, Boeing is aiming to make your experience better - as long as you're flying on one of their 787 Dreamliners. They have announced two different in-flight entertainment systems, running Android: the Panasonic eX3, as well as the Thales TopSeries Avant. The Thales system is the only one with specifics announced, but's no game: it comes in 10" and 17" versions, with dual core ARM CPUs and 1GB RAM, as well as a huge 256GB of internal storage. The interface is highly customized, making it difficult to decipher the Android version running on these things. However, speculation tells us it's something slightly dated, like 2.3 or 3.0. To make up for it, however, the devices will have access to in-flight wifi. To make things even sweeter, the Touch Passenger Media Unit - or TouchPMU - comes included. It's a 3.8" handheld Android device that works as a companion to the Avant, with all the options (supposedly) in your Android phone. Sounds pretty cool to us. Maybe we can find ourselves in front of one of these devices on our way to CES 2013... if we suddenly become rich enough to get on one of these airliners. Let us know your thoughts in the comments. via extremetech Boeing 787 Dreamliner jets to have entertainment systems running Android originally appeared on AndroidGuys. CM10 progress video show’s CyanogenMod’s yet-unreleased version running on Optimus 4X HD Posted: 13 Jul 2012 04:57 AM PDT CyanogenMod, arguably the most popular ROM in the Android community, is working on an update to their software. The newest version being worked, CM10, is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. One of the devs on the CM team has released a video preview showing CM10, and we're excited. Ricardo Cerquiera released the video on YouTube and Google+, and is using the Optimus 4X HD to show off the (as far as we can tell) remarkably polished CM10. Functional camera, phone calls, and multi-tasking are just a few of the things we see running in the video above. Remember, guys, the CyanogenMod team doesn't give ETAs.... so don't ask! But, be sure to let us know what you think in the comments. via google+ CM10 progress video show’s CyanogenMod’s yet-unreleased version running on Optimus 4X HD originally appeared on AndroidGuys. HTC releases kernel source for EVO 4G LTE Posted: 13 Jul 2012 04:42 AM PDT If you've got an EVO 4G LTE and you're either a dev or a user who loves flashing ROMs, then it's time to throw your hands in the air. HTC has (finally) released the source code for the kernel on this device, and it's a great thing. While most users (as in about 99% of users) don't have a reason to run out and download this themselves, developers are going to want this ASAP. The kernel source code allows devs to make sure hardware / software works correctly on their custom ROMs. Meaning, soon, rooted users who flash ROMs will see updates to their favorite ROM with no bugs. Those who need the kernel source can get it from the link below. Chances are, most users will want to check things out in the xda-forums. via htcdev HTC releases kernel source for EVO 4G LTE originally appeared on AndroidGuys. There are some pretty cool features on here. Personally, I like the recommendations... just the other night, I wanted to watch "Taken", but my wife had seen it enough times and didn't want to watch it again.
