It’s happening, folks, and it’s about time. The HTC One X is finally getting its update to Android 4.1.The folks over at HTCSource have been getting alert after alert through social networking that HTC One X’s everywhere are seeing updates. So far, they’ve confirmed India, Argentina, UK, Russia, Dominican Republic, Peru, Brazil and Sri Lanka. According to HTCSource:

…Users will first see a smaller 1.6MB download which is followed by the main 364.54MB Jelly Bean update. If you'd like to check your CID on your HTC One X, head on over to Google Play and search: CID. Most of the CID apps should work. If you have not already received the OTA update notification, you can try to manually ping HTC's update servers by going to Settings > About > Software updates >Check now.

Eight 8-Bit Android games we love

Posted: 26 Nov 2012 11:08 AM PST

If you’re like us, then you are probably shaking out of a turkey-induced coma and getting back into routines and the normal life. For some of us, that means walking and not running off into the work week. To help get us return to the swing of things, we like to spend some free time casually playing some old school, retro games with them clunky old 8-bit graphics.

Face it, as much as we love getting into first person shooters and immerse 3D games, sometimes we just need a bit of ol’ fashion to feel better. Along those lines, here are eight titles that we have really enjoyed as of late

LG Optimus G2 rumors starting up already?

Posted: 26 Nov 2012 08:14 AM PST

Don’t look now, but the rumor is churning again, this time for a successor to the LG Optimus G. Yes, the same Optimus G that has only recently gone on sale. According to Korean Maeli (translate), LG is readying an Optimus G2 for release in the second quarter of next year. Possibly arriving in May, the handset is set to feature a 5-inch LCD display at 1080p resolution with the same 440 pixel per inch image as other new models. For what it’s worth, Samsung is rumored to have a similar screen tech for the Galaxy S4.

Additional specifications for the Optimus G2 include a Qualcomm quad-core MSM8974 Snapdragon S4 2GHz processor, LTE support, and -wait for it- Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie

Verizon HTC Droid DNA bootloader gets unlocked method

Posted: 26 Nov 2012 07:55 AM PST

Alright, android guys and gals (see what I did there? Chuckle…), grab your hacker hats and geek gloves. If you’ve got an HTC Droid DNA, then AndroidPolice has an early Christmas gift for you. How does an unlocked bootloader sound? Pretty cool? Yea, we thought so, too.

The bootloader unlock concept is pretty simple – make the Verizon Droid DNA seem to be unbranded through the bootloader, and then it can be unlocked via the official HTC bootloader unlock method. Verizon may have pulled the plug on unlocking through HTC’s tools, but if it doesn’t appear to be branded, HTC’s software is none the wiser.

You’ll need your phone (duh), a computer (duh again), ADB, and some time (and patience) to accomplish this. If this sounds like your cup of tea, be sure to head to the source link below for the full rundown. As always, AndroidGuys is not responsible if you damage, brick, melt, overcook, or transmogrify your phone. Good luck!

LG Nexus 4 16GB on sale today for $499 at dailysteals

Posted: 26 Nov 2012 07:44 AM PST

Yes, we know it’s an inflated price. The listing shows a standard cost for the phone to be $799.00 – even though they’re only $349 in the Google Play Store. However, if you’ve got one on backorder (like so many people do) or simply don’t want to wait and don’t want to pay eBay prices, then you might give this a look.

We’re not sure how many are still available, so you’d better head over to the source link and pick one up for yourself, if you’re into that sort of thing.

HTC Deluxe not heading to Europe after all?

Posted: 26 Nov 2012 07:04 AM PST

A number rumors of an HTC Deluxe have surfaced over the months, and even more so in the wake of the Droid DNA. Expected to hit the global markets as an international version of the 5-inch HTC smartphone, Europe seemed an almost lock as one of those regions. According to HTC, however, that’s not going to be the case.

“…the Deluxe will unfortunately not come to Europe.” – HTC

That quote above comes directly from HTC’s German Facebook page as a response to a reader asking about the recent leaks. Reading that, you’d get the sense that the phone is a no-go for Europe altogether.  Our hope is that this is one of those, “what we didn’t say was…” scenarios. Maybe, just maybe it’s going to Europe under another name.

Samsung moves 5 million Galaxy Note II’s around the world

Posted: 26 Nov 2012 06:41 AM PST

Samsung today announced that the Galaxy Note II has topped 5 million units, barely two months into its life cycle  It’s not clear where this global figure is the for retail sales or overall shipments, however it’s a commendable figure nonetheless. Assuming Samsung uses the same metric for all over sales marks, it’s right in the thick of other top-selling Android devices. How high will the number go? Samsung hopes for at least 20 million.

Are you one of the 5 million Galaxy Note II users?  Any plans to join the family in the coming weeks and months?
