LG F240K Smartphone Outed In GLBenchmark, Comes Loaded With 1080p Display Posted: 18 Nov 2012 03:19 PM PST
Think that LG is content with releasing the Optimus G smartphone this year and calling it a day? Well think again as LG seems to have yet another superphone that’s likely on the way. Thanks to a leaked GLBenchmark score, we see that LG has a mysterious device called the F240K and looks to have all the major bells and whistles of a typical superphone. According to the benchmark, the F240K features a full 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, just like that found in the recently announced HTC DROID DNA smartphone. In addition to the noteworthy 1080p display, the F240K seems to feature a processor (most likely the quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro) clocked at 1.5GHz and will run on Android 4.1.2— not the now-outdated Ice Cream Sandwich. There are no additional details of the F240K like its display size or how much RAM it’ll have, but now that the device has been outed– we suspect that it won’t be long before we see additional leaks pop up and give us a better idea of what this puppy entails exactly. source: Slash Gear

How to unlock and root the Nexus 4 Posted: 18 Nov 2012 12:23 PM PST Nexus 4 shipments are starting to arrive for the very lucky souls that were able to get an order in. If you plan on unlocking your bootloader (and subsequently rooting) you Nexus 4, we recommend doing it first thing since unlocking the bootloader will reset and erase everything on your device. If you’re ready to go, you’ve come to the right place, just hit the break to get started.
**These instructions are straight forward and easy, but things can go wrong so we don’t take any responsibility. Requirements
Unlocking the bootloader **By unlocking the bootloader you will completely reset your device so make sure to back up anything you want to keep.
**If you ever want to lock the bootloader you can simply enter fastboot oem lock instead for step 5.
Gain Root Access
If you followed these instructions correctly, your Nexus 4 bootloader is now unlocked and you should have permanent root. Congratulations!!!
**Driver Issues
Make sure the Google USB drivers are installed from the SDK. Go to your Control Panel then Device Manager. You should see Android Phone with a Yellow ! mark on it. Right click on it and choose update driver, choose browse my computer, then Let me pick from a list. Select Android ADB Interface. You should be good to go. Return to Step 5 under Unlocking the bootloader. If you’re having any other issues, make a comment below or head to this XDA thread.

Android 4.2 thinks there are just 11 months in a year, omits December Posted: 18 Nov 2012 12:06 PM PST The newest iteration of Android, version 4.2 Jelly Bean, seems to think there are just 11 months in a year, effectively leaving out December altogether. No presents? No Santa? What ever shall we do? The updated People application found in the stock AOSP version of the software doesn’t allow users to select the 12th month of the year, meaning people who have birthdays, anniversaries or any other sort of special event around Christmas time aren’t able to have it recognized. The issue has been reported to the official bug tracker and has already been acknowledged by Google. We’re expecting an update to Android 4.1.2 soon. Perhaps, before non-existent December rolls around? Via: AndroidPolice

Google updates Play Store to include new UI features Posted: 18 Nov 2012 10:13 AM PST
Google has rolling out an update to the Play Store since late last night, and even though it doesn’t have any drastic changes, the UI and recommendations have been polished up, which is a nice touch. The most notable difference is the post-install screen after installing an app; it’s a clean looking screen with a button to quickly enable automatic updates. There’s also improvements to recommendations, which connects to your circles on Google+ to suggest apps and media. This brings the Play Store up to the version that’s shipping with the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10. Hit the link below for the download if you just can’t wait for your Play Store to update automatically.
