Samsung has been on a roll as of late when it comes to software updates for their growing number of Android smartphones. From the Galaxy S II finally getting 4.1 Jelly Bean internationally, to Android 4.1.2 hitting most of their new flagship Galaxy S III smartphones. Today we can confirm the earlier delayed update is now arriving for Telstra customers.
Yup, according to AusDroid the latest official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update from Samsung for the Galaxy S III is hitting those 3G carrier devices on Telstra down under. This is the latest version from Sammy and brings with it the ‘premium suite’ with multi-window mode and more. We’ve seen this same update arrive for multiple Galaxy S III devices internationally, as well as up in Canada. Sadly they still aren’t quite ready to hit the US carriers with the same release. Telstra's Crowd Support page currently states "Scheduled to begin staged deployment at 2:00 PM AEDT 4th February" but that day it was quickly pulled after initially rolling out. According to multiple tips and comments it appears Telstra has resumed the staggered rollout, and users should be receiving it on their handset over the course of the weekend and the next few days. It should arrive soon, or as usual head into settings and manually checked for updates if you’d rather not wait. Let us know how it goes, and enjoy those Jelly Beans.

The fun and engaging app Pinterest has just been updated by their developers with many new improvements. A large part of the changes were to make the app easier to use, more social, and improve the groups and group management of Pinterest. The new update was detailed this week on their blog and today is available in the Play Store as version 1.3.2 as we speak. Read on for more details.
Pinterest’s app has been updated with an entire focus on the groups and boards. According to their blog it’s all about board contributors as well as groups you view and follow. For those unaware, it’s like the people you follow on Instagram, only for Pinterest. Now you can view all members adding and pinning to any board you’re a part of. Making the experience more friendly and social. You can now leave group boards that you’ve already joined, something that oddly wasn’t available before on mobile. They’re slowly improving the mobile experience, and we’re sure no one will complain about that. You can also view, accept, or ignore group board invites right on your Android smartphone or tablet. The update was actually released earlier this week on Thursday, but as of yesterday became available on the Amazon app store as well. Today they’ve issued a minor update as well for the new group board options, but no other new features or details were mentioned. Mainly just a bug fixing update. For all those Pinterest fans, get the latest and improved version from the link below. [via Play Store] |

We know the folks from LG are brewing up another slew of Android smartphones to release this year, and they’ve been teasing as many as 4 smartphones to be announced at Mobile World Congress. While we already have a pretty good idea of what to expect, some new images have leaked of one of their more budget-oriented smartphones. Read on for full details.
This past week LG has released a number of teaser images and videos. First with a quick teaser video, then Friday sent out save the date invites teasing 4 smartphones coming soon. We already have seen the brand new LG Optimus G Pro, and now images of their low end LG L3 II have leaked, or that’s what we’re calling it. The image above is a brand new smartphone from LG, with the model number being listed as the LG E435F, then a dual-sim option will also be available as the E430. We’re expecting LG to expand on last years “L series” smartphones and this will be the budget low end model of that bunch. According to TuttoAndroid this phone recently passed through the Brazilian version of the FCC, and should be announced at Mobile World Congress later this month along side three other new smartphones. Details claim a 3.2-inch WVGA display, 5 megapixel camera, and a measly single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. We’re still not sure if this will just be a regional budget phone, or something they’ll announce later this month. Either way stay tuned as we’ll be live from Spain with all the details during their MWC unveiling. [via TuttoAndroid] |

Today we have an awesome, lightweight, and intuitive music player for Android called Amp and a donate version Amp+. This week the developers of this impressive 3rd party app have issued a nice update adding tons of new features and fixing a few bugs for their already feature-packed app. If you’ve been looking for a lightweight music player check this out.
The developer describes AMP as a lightweight, intuitive and easy to navigate music player for Android — and we’d certainly agree. They have an extremely simple yet beautiful layout, landscape mode looks great, and tons of equalizer options. The list of features includes playlists, Enqueue, lockscreen controls, notification controls, expanded Android 4.2 Jelly Bean notification controls, gapless playback (Jelly Bean) and highly customizable widgets and it will even find your album artwork for you. That’s all nice, but this week they issued a quick update improving tons of features and fixing a few bugs. There’s currently a free version called AMP for those wanting to give it a test drive before paying $0.99, but the paid + version was updated this week with some neat looking themes I’m sure you’ll all like. Here’s what’s new this week: v1.2.5The themes are brand new and only available on the + version, and we can expect tons of themes to be arriving in the following weeks. Search function was severely missing so we’re glad that was included, and the transparent widget is awesome. Oh and we can’t forget Scrobble with Last.FM is a new feature worth mentioning. This music player keeps getting better and better so give it a try today right here, and then let us know what you think. [via Simplecityapps] |
