Rovio teases new Angry Birds Go Posted: 13 Jun 2013 01:15 PM PDT Might Rovio be readying an Angry Birds racing game? Depending on how you view the teaser website over at go.angrybirds.com, that looks to be a yes. Head over there and you’ll find a brief Ready, Set, Go followed by a trail of smoke and feathers. We also see what appears to a race track under a bridge. And, considering it says “GO” we have to think it’s a race. Assuming this Angry Birds Go is a racing game, we have to wonder what we’re in store for. We’d love to see something that features all the familiar birds and pigs with powerups and hazards. Think Mario Kart but with our feathered friends. In an ideal situation, we get unlockable new characters, and even the Star Wars birds as well. The latter is unlikely, but we can dream, right? What would you like to see in Angry Birds Go? Leave a comment below with your wish list. The post Rovio teases new Angry Birds Go appeared first on AndroidGuys. |
Second generation of Nexus 7 coming in July? Posted: 13 Jun 2013 01:10 PM PDT The Nexus 7, having been around for more than year now, is still what we consider among the more affordable and robust tablet experiences. Of course it is a brilliant tablet but the market is really competitive so it’s time for an update. We heard back in January that a new version is in the pipeline, and even learned a bit more last month as well. Now it seems the next-gen Nexus 7 is around the corner as DigiTimes, sometimes a reliable news source, is reporting that new Nexus 7 will land in market sometime in July. With 16GB of storage, the tablet could be priced at US$229.
The second generation Nexus 7 will be launched as a mid-range Android tablet, hence the price of $200-250. If the next Nexus 7 comes out with better specifications and the mentioned price tag, would you consider buying it? Tell us about it in the comment box below. Our friends at TechTastic were sent an exclusive photo of the device, and it looks like a good option for shutterbugs, sporting the D-SLR look. No details have come to the light quite yet, but they report a potential 20 MP sensor. Check out the picture and let us know in the comments: Do you use your phone for all of your picture-taking needs or do you sport a separate camera? Reddit Illustrated – A quicker way to enjoy /r/aww and /r/WTF Posted: 13 Jun 2013 10:00 AM PDT Reddit Illustrated brings a different look to Reddit. Instead of a simple article list of stories and images, Reddit Illustrated brings a card-style UI to show a quick heading or an picture straight to the front of your screen. Though it lacks a few key features, this unique Reddit client makes up for them with quick and convenient features. Unless you are a lurker who enjoys the default subreddits, the first thing you will need to do is sign in. After that, you will be able to upvote and downvote stories and comments, add your personalized subreddits, and save interesting posts all from the homescreen of Reddit Illustrated. These quick actions persuade you to actually get involved with Reddit client instead of being merely an observer. The quick actions make getting involved and using Reddit’s features an incredibly appealing and simple task. The front page of Reddit Illustrated brings up your regular Reddit front page. The title of the posts shows up above a card of the image or, if it is a self-post, the text of the description will show up below the title. At the bottom of the card, there are the vote buttons, a share icon so that you can save links or pictures, and the number of karma and comments. You can also quickly hide or save a post by swiping the whole card right or left, respectively. If you click a post, you will either see the rest of the image or the comments depending on if you click the photo/title or the comments number. From there, you can vote on comments and comment yourself. Those are about the only options in the comments section though. An inability to hide or collapse comments is an obvious inconvenience despite the color-coding system used. You also cannot share or report comments. The only convenience Reddit Illustrated has is the ability to open the post in a browser and jump to the tops of comments. Although Reddit Illustrated can generally keep up with the bigger Reddit clients like Reddit News, Reddit Sync, and Bacon Reader, it lacks a few features that we have come to expect from any type of reader app. I, for one, always use a night theme any time I use an app, but Reddit Illustrated offers no such option. You are unable to access your saved posts or even view your comments or submitted links. Finally, you cannot access subreddits from a post. All of these features are almost necessary for a Reddit app, and hopefully Reddit Illustrated can catch up to its competitors quickly. Despite the lack of these key features, Reddit Illustrated offers something new for Reddit users. Big, full pictures are a welcome addition instead of thumbnails, and the quick actions make getting involved and using Reddit’s features an incredibly appealing and simple task. What we liked
