A person that has proven so far to be more than familiar with Google's Moto X plans says that the handset could be shipped to carriers starting with July 29, suggesting that a launch following the August 1 announcement event wouldn't be out of the question.
The news comes from Taylor Wimberly – who else? – but don't get too excited just yet as he apparently heard everything from an unverified source. Here's what he posted on his Google+ page:
Just got some crazy info. Unverified source tells me Moto X ships to US carriers on 7/29 (tomorrow)! If this is true then it might go on sale this week after the big reveal. Trying to verify info with some other sources.
While various Moto X details have been leaked in the past few days (and weeks), there hasn't been that much talk about launch dates. We only have alleged launch dates for Verizon (August 23) and U.S. Cellular (August 26), but other U.S. carriers including AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile are also expected to launch the device, considering the fact that existing FCC documentation has been filed for five different Moto X versions.
We'll just have to wait and see whether the Moto X will be launched next week, which would certainly be interesting. What's clear though is that the handset is coming this summer, something Motorola has officially confirmed when making the Moto X name official at the D11 media event.
