Much like Amazon, Barnes & Noble has their own line of tablets, though not nearly as popular. Their most notable tablets are the Nook HD and Nook HD+, and for Woot.com’s deal of the day today, you can get up to three 8GB Nook HD’s for $89.99.
Currently, through Barnes & Noble, the device is on sale for $129.99, so this is a pretty impressive deal. So, what does $89.99 get you? A 7-inch IPS LCD screen capable of 1,440 x 900 resolution, rated at 243ppi, a dual-core 1.3GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by 32GB via a microSD card. On the software side of things, the Nook HD is running Android 4.0.
There are some pretty decent specs there for being only $89.99, however, the biggest disappointment is the lack of a GPS, along with those rear and front cameras. If you can get past that, the Nook HD is really a nice tablet. If you can’t, well, it’s a great toy for the kids!
$89.99 really is a good price for this device, especially since Barnes and Noble recently opened up the tablet a bit more by finally allowing access to the Google Play Store and its 700,000+ apps. That alone adds a lot of value to this device.
And hey, if you don’t plan on using the Play Store’s assortment of apps, the Nook HD is still a great device for book reading and media consumption. If you’re interested, you’ll need to act soon — the deal ends in 15 hours or until sold out.
Any takers?
