Announced in a Google+ post, the Google Drive app has received another major update, with the most noticeable changes being an updated UI with a lighter theme, and the addition of a new create bar, which makes uploading, creating, and scanning files to Google Drive much easier.
Google has moved away from the dark theme of the previous version to a new brighter, white theme, dubbed Holo Light, that “makes content easier on the eyes.” There is also a new create bar embedded at the bottom of the app, that includes quick action buttons for uploading a file, creating a new document, or scanning a document or photo to Drive. A lot of new tools and features have also been added to Spreadsheets, with users now having the ability to merge and split rows and column in spreadsheets, or lock particular row and column areas to separate them, allowing you to do different work on the same spreadsheet. The update also includes general bug fixes and performance enhancements.
As is the case with all Google app updates, the latest Google Drive update will roll out in stages, and should be available to you in the next few days, if you haven’t got it. You can download the Drive app from the Google Play Store here.
If you have received the update, what do you think of the UI changes and the introduction of the create bar? Let us know in the comments section below.
