Last month, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra was spotted on the FCC’s website, featuring AT&T compatible HSPA+ and LTE radios. This discovery led us to believe that AT&T would likely end up carrying the Xperia Z Ultra sometime in the future. A month later, we’ve yet to hear anything about AT&T or any other carrier’s plans for the Xperia Ultra Z just yet.
Tired of waiting for the handset to arrive to the U.S.? For those willing to buy outright, the wait is almost over!
NewEgg is now offering the handset up for pre-order in fully unlocked glory, with a shipping date of October 14th. At least for now, it seems that NewEgg is currently the only retailer accepting pre-orders for the Z Ultra. Even Sony’s Online store makes no mention of the handset.
As for the pricing? The 3G version will set buyers back $699.99 outright, or $729.99 for the LTE model.
Beyond the addition of LTE support, both handsets are identical. That means the same 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU and 6.4-inch 1080p display. Other specs include 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, microSD and massive 3,050 mAh battery.

So how about it, anyone plan on picking up this monster, unlocked and off-contract?
