The next generation of smartphones figures to get even faster and more powerful than ever before. Not that this is a surprise, of course, it happens every year.
With 2013 seeing the introduction and rollout of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 and 800 processor we are now in the middle of devices with 2.3GHz CPUs. Next year could see things inching forward with 2.5GHz processors. A Snapdragon APQ8084 has been spotted in AnTuTu benchmarks recently with a GPU identified as an Adreno 420.
Presumably, this new processor is not only faster but also more power efficient and robust. Given the CPU is being tested today, smartphones from the likes of HTC, Samsung, and Sony could offer the new Qualcomm chip some time in coming months. Out gut tells us to look for an announcement at CES in the first weeks of the new year.
