The Nexus 5 is here, and at Google Play’s asking price of $349 for the 16GB model, it's an absolute steal. At Best Buy's no contract price of $799.99? Not so much.
That's right, the Sprint version of the Nexus 5 is now listed on Best Buy's site for $149.99 with a contract or a massive $799.99 outright. While it's not surprising to see the price listed above what we find it for at Google Play, paying more than double for the handset is completely insane. Even more crazy is the fact this is $350 more expensive than Sprint's $449.99 asking price.
It's very possible that this is just a listing error, though Best Buy is no stranger to listing its "phone replacements” above the standard retail price. We’ve reached out to Best Buy for confirmation on its Nexus 5 pricing, and will update the post if and when we hear back.
Of course the cheapest route for buying the Sprint Nexus 5 off-contract is obviously through Google Play directly. And yes, for those wondering, we have confirmed with a Sprint rep that you can in fact buy the Google Play version and activate it with the Now Network.
Any Sprint customers planning on picking up the Nexus 5? If so, will you be doing it via Google Play or do you prefer to get the handset on-contract for the lower subsidized price?
