AT&T HTC One X demo units sighted Posted: 22 Apr 2012 12:28 PM PDT
The AT&T HTC One X is now available to pre-order, and it seems the network may be preparing to show off demo units in store, as evidenced by the latest photos sent our way by an anonymous tipster. Besides that, there's not a whole lot to surprise regular readers here -- it's an HTC One X, on AT&T, with the carrier's branding proudly displayed atop the screen. It'll launch on May 6, and we're expecting it to be just as good as its international Tegra 3-flavored sibling. Check past the break for a couple more sneaky pics, and be sure to drop by the comments and let us know if you'll be picking one of these babies up come May 6. Thanks, anon!
AT&T HTC One X now available for pre-order Posted: 22 Apr 2012 11:04 AM PDT Right on time, AT&T is now offering its version of the HTC One X for pre-order, with the first shipments expected to reach customers on May 6. If you're in the mood for an upgrade, the device will set you back $199.99 on a two-year service plan. In addition to LTE connectivity, the AT&T version of the phone rocks a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip in place of the NVIDIA Tegra 3 in the international HSPA model. We're still expecting the AT&T One X to be blisteringly fast, though, despite "only" featuring a dual-core CPU. In addition to a gorgeous 720p SuperLCD 2 screen and 8MP ImageSense camera, the One X delivers the latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, along with HTC Sense 4. For more info on the phone, be sure to check out our full review. And if you're interested in picking one up, hit the source link to order in white or grey. Source: AT&T
Samsung 'Next Galaxy' teaser site appears Posted: 22 Apr 2012 10:28 AM PDT With less than two weeks remaining before Samsung's next flagship phone is unveiled in London, it seems we're beginning to see the start of the marketing campaign for the device. The image you see above comes from tgeltaayehxnx.com, the address of which is an anagram of "The Next Galaxy". The URL was first outed in a tweet from Samsung Mobile earlier today. And the page's title refers to a "whole new universe", with additional clues hidden in the page's metadata -- "Discover how Samsung is about to challenge the way you view the GALAXY once more." A quick WHOIS lookup for the domain reveals it's owned by marketing agency The Upper Storey, which has been involved in campaigns for the likes of Nokia, Intel and LG in the past. The agency has also registered thenextgalaxy.com, an unscrambled version of the URL above. That site is currently password-protected, however. The focus of the teaser site is a giant clock counting down to 12 noon UK time tomorrow, April 23 (7am EDT, 4am PDT). With the London event still a good 10 days away at that point, it's unlikely we'll see an official announcement, but some more clues about the Source: tgeltaayehxnx.com; via: AllAboutSamsung
ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 review Posted: 22 Apr 2012 12:02 AM PDT ASUS is in a bit of a pickle, but it's one that most manufacturers would love to be in. When designing the Transformer Pad TF300, they had to ask themselves how to refresh what has become an iconic symbol to Android tablet fans. The original ASUS Eee Pad Transformer was a big hit for the company last year, and anyone who has used one can tell you why. It's a great tablet in its own right, but the addition of an excellent keyboard dock puts it on a sort of a pedestal to the folks using it. It's more than a tablet, it's not quite a laptop, but it found a way to fill a need most people didn't realize was there to fill. To describe it in one word -- genius. In this case the question is more difficult than the answer. You simply take what works, keep it the way people love it, and put the best hardware and software under the screen. The addition of the Tegra 3 SoC, and ASUS' special blend of Ice Cream Sandwich to the formula is exactly how the TF300 should have been done, and is how it was done. Hit the break to see if it worked.

Late-night poll: What will Samsung call its new flagship phone? Posted: 21 Apr 2012 06:22 PM PDT There's been no shortage of news and speculation this week surrounding the Galaxy S III -- or whatever Samsung ends up calling it. Mostly folks have been discussing whether this or that rumored spec will turn out to be accurate, but just as intriguing is Samsung's choice of branding for its new flagship smartphone. Samsung Galaxy S III is the obvious choice, as it indicates a clear successor to last year's Galaxy S II. But it's just as likely Samsung may drop the roman numerals, or follow in Apple's footsteps by eliminating numbers altogether with a "new Galaxy" or "new Galaxy S". We've seen leaked images in the past week showing a "Samsung Galaxy S i9300" splash screen, so that's certainly a possibility. There's been at least one rumor this week that suggests Samsung may be having second thoughts about calling this thing the Galaxy S III, so anything's possible at this stage. Be sure to let us know what you think in tonight's Android Central late-night poll, and keep following all our coverage in the lead up to the May 3 announcement!
Google Drive shows up on Android developers device during Google+ Hangout Posted: 21 Apr 2012 05:05 PM PDT By now the existence of Google Drive isn't really a question. It does exist, it's out there and now the Android connection has been confirmed for anyone who may still have had doubts. During a Google+ Hangout highlighting Android developers, a Google employee using a Galaxy Nexus inadvertently showed off the "Share to drive" option on his device as you can just barely see in the screen cap above. Google has since yanked down the Google+ Hangout video but many have already caught a look at the icon just sitting there in the sharing options, waiting to be unveiled to the masses.
