Google wants to put the power of donation in your hands with One Today Posted: 19 Apr 2013 01:54 PM PDT Google is launching a new app called One Today. The purpose of the app is to donate $1 a day to a cause. Right now the app is in limited pilot, and an invite only. It’s only available on Android, but when you click on the invite button, it asks you which mobile platform (Android, iOS, Blackberry, or Windows) you would like to receive an invite for. This would suggest they are going to bring the app to those platforms at a later time. To give you a better idea of what I’m talking about, continue reading past the break for some examples of what you can donate to:
I’m sure a lot of us out there are going to sign up to receive the invite, including myself. I think we all could handle giving one dollar every once in awhile, and if your friends match that dollar, it can change more lives. If you are interested in this app, check out the source link below, and don’t forget to click on the project gallery while you are there. Let us know what you think of this concept in the comments below. Source: Google One Today

HTC One Developer Edition delayed along with 32GB unlocked version Posted: 19 Apr 2013 01:18 PM PDT Buyers who placed pre-orders for an HTC One Developer Edition were probably expecting to receive a shipping notification yesterday or at the latest today. Unfortunately, the lack of shipping notices raised suspicions of a delay that has now been made official by HTC. Emails have been sent to those who placed an order that reads:
The original plan was to have these versions of the HTC One shipping by the same day AT&T and Sprint had the device available for retail purchase. Now, potential buyers will have to wait a few extra days to get their device unless they are willing to pick up a carrier-locked version.

Google Play Store receives very minor update, starts rolling out to users Posted: 19 Apr 2013 10:40 AM PDT Just a couple weeks ago Google started pushing out an update to the Google Play Store taking it to version 4.0. The major update brought an overhauled UI that incorporates a Holo-esque, Google Now look. Since then Google has been addressing some bugs and other minor issues and this latest revision, taking the app up to version 4.0.26, is no different. The update has started rolling out to users, but if you are too impatient for that, you can download the apk using the link below. Google Play Store 4.0.26 Download source: OMG!Droid

HTC M4 expected to feature full metal chassis and arrive June Posted: 19 Apr 2013 10:11 AM PDT
You remember that mysterious HTC smartphone we have been talking about lately? You know— the one that’s supposed to be a prettier version of the One smartphone? Well it appears that we are finally getting more concrete details about the device… and boy is this mysterious toy shaping up to be a real beauty. According to the serial (but mildly inconsistent) leaker DigiTimes, the M4 is not only going to be a revision of the existing One smartphone, but it will be made out of a metal-alloy chassis produced by Catcher Technology— all in the hopes of avoiding a supply issue kind of like what we saw with the One. While the One smartphone will likely sell like hotcakes, HTC expects its M4 to sell well regardless. Additional reports are indicating that HTC is expected to start shipments in June, with around 700,000 devices aiming to arrive in the second quarter. source: DigiTimes

It appears that Samsung is certainly on the way to ensuring the Galaxy S 4 smartphone makes an epic splash upon its arrival in a matter of time from now. As you already know, Samsung will unleash two different versions of the Galaxy S 4: one in a Snapdragon variant and another in a Exynos variant— all in the hopes of reaching as many worldwide markets as possible. Because of this notion, DigiTimes reports that Samsung wants to ship 10 million Galaxy S 4 units in the last week of April, while also expecting to sell 30 million Galaxy S 4 units in the first 3 months. Ladies and gents, if you think the Galaxy S III sales were a success, get ready for a bigger bang with the Galaxy S 4. source: DigiTimes

HTC unveils the economical Desire L for Taiwan Posted: 19 Apr 2013 06:28 AM PDT So much for HTC marketing “one” phone this year as the Desire L was just made official. This one is destined for Taiwan and the specs scream economical, or shall I say low-end. It will come with a 4.3-inch WVGA (800 x 480) LCD 2 display, a 1GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage, microSD slot for expansion, 5MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1,800 mAh battery, and Beats audio. It’s fairly thin for a cheaper phone with it’s 8.9mm profile. They didn’t specify the version of Android, but we presume Jelly Bean. Finally, you will have your choice of pink or black.

Samsung Galaxy S 4 Mini now pushed back to July Posted: 19 Apr 2013 06:10 AM PDT Those of you looking for a more compact and economical version of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 will have to wait a couple of months longer. The Galaxy S 4 Mini was originally going to release in May, but has been pushed back to July. The little brother of the Galaxy S 4 will come with a 4.3-inch qHD (960 x 540) display, and 8MP camera. We expect to see two versions, a one SIM option and a dual-SIM option. The single-SIM option will sport a quad-core CPU, while the dual-SIM will sport a dual-core CPU. No word on why there is a delay, but I would imagine with the Galaxy S 4 launching shortly, Samsung would like to see that phone in the spotlight for a little while. source: SamMobile

Free VOIP calls between Facebook users now made available around the world through its Messenger app Posted: 18 Apr 2013 09:57 PM PDT Early last month Facebook rolled out free VOIP calls for iOS and Android users via their Messaging app. Sadly, the feature was only available in Canada. While done quietly, Facebook has rolled out a new update to the app that expands the availability of this feature to the US and to the rest of the world. To access this, make sure you have the app installed or have it updated. In a chat window, simply tap the “i” button and the option should be readily available for you. Links for download will be available after the break!

Larry Page confirms that Android does indeed run Google Glass Posted: 18 Apr 2013 09:42 PM PDT In a recent interview, Google’s very own Larry Page has finally confirmed that Google Glass does indeed run the Android operating system. While it was widely assumed so, no official confirmation has ever been made until now. While it is a modified version of Android, it is nice to see the flexibility of Google’s operating system and it’s diversity in cross-platform. What does this mean for Glass’ future? Well, integration with Glass and your Android powered smartphone or any other device would be easy and probably recommended. Does this confirmation make you guys any more excited for Google’s Glass’ impending release? source: Techcrunch
