Shortly after yesterday’s announcement that Cyanogen, Inc. was formed, Steve Kondik and Koushik Dutta took to Reddit to answer questions about their plans. It was already revealed that they would offer a one-click installer for both Android and Windows. More details will be announced next week, but they did say that it will support all devices that CyanogenMod currently supports, which means any devices that can be unlocked. However, if there isn’t a legitimate manufacturer-supplied method, they might not support it.
Next up is hardware. I think it’s inevitable that Cyanogen will team up with at least one hardware manufacturer to offer a Cyanogen branded phone. They are saying it’s a long-term goal, but they do have a partner already. This partner could be revealed next week. Eventually they hope to license their software to OEMs and/or sell it directly to consumers. Hopefully by that time they will be able to offer Google apps along with their ROM. For now, Gaaps will still need to be installed separately until they can reach an agreement with Google or shall I say pass all their requirements.
Those are just some of the highlights, but I encourage you to check out the full thread at Reddit by hitting the source link below.
