HTC’s President Jason Mackenzie took to Twitter yesterday to talk up the Android 4.4 Kit Kat update as it pertains to the HTC One. According to him, the HTC One will see the latest version of Android inside of 90 days, followed shortly by the HTC One Mini and HTC One Max. While typically this means the international version or Google Play Edition, Mackenzie says this also includes the carrier branded models found in the U.S.
A statement provided later in the evening echoes the sentiment and gives us something official to consider.
“We're all excited about Google's Halloween treat and plan on breaking off a piece of that Kit Kat bar for the HTC One. In North America, we'll deliver Android 4.4 with Sense 5.5 for the HTC One within 90 days, and the HTC One max and the HTC One mini will follow.”
Pretty ambitious stuff if you ask us. It is, however, exactly what HTC needs to do if they want to head in the right direction. Get the updates out well ahead of the others and HTC could gain some momentum and public favor.
