| Verizon FiOS Mobile update takes live streaming outside the home Sep 20th 2013, 18:42, by Robert Nelson Verizon has rolled out the latest update for the FiOS Mobile app and users will now be able to stream live television from outside the home. Previous versions of the app allowed for live streaming, however it was limited to when connected to your home WiFi network. Of course, as we saw with the live streaming over WiFi, the channel selection is rather limited. 
In fact, the channel selection over a cellular connection is even more limited. At present the channel lineup totals in at nine. There are options to watch BBC World News, DIY, NFL Network, Tennis Channel, Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, BBM America and Epix. Without listing all the available channels for streaming over WiFi, we can say that list includes nearly 80 channels. Aside from the added ability to stream some channels while out and about, Verizon also included a few other items with this most recent update. For example, those in New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington DC will also be able to stream live some local channels live. This update also brought some unspecified stability improvements and bug fixes. Otherwise, the app retains the core features that were previously available such as being able to manage your home DVR recordings. With this users are able to view a list of current recordings, and also schedule and delete recordings. Other features of the app that remain include being able to access your Flex View content and also use the app as a remote control. With that in mind, the latest version of the Verizon FiOS Mobile app can be found in the Google Play Store. |  | OPPO teased as first Cyanogen hardware partner Sep 20th 2013, 17:18, by Robert Nelson Earlier in the week we saw the news about how CyanogenMod was becoming Cyanogen Inc. And at that time there was talk of everything from a CyanogenMod installer that was heading to the Play Store to a hardware partner. Well, while speculation has thrown around a few names, it looks like OPPO will be the first. 
The details have yet to be announced, however as we have been seeing with OPPO, they have recently dropped another teaser for the N1 smartphone. That handset will be announced on September 23rd at an event in China and it looks like the folks at Cyanogen Inc will be on-hand. Yes, this latest OPPO N1 teaser is a short talk from Steve Kondik. As with all teasers, this one is light on the specifics. It arrives at just 19 seconds in length and offers “OPPO + CyanogenMod = ?” as the description. As for what Steve Kondik had to say, well, he said he was looking forward to attending the OPPO event in Beijing and that they have “exciting news ahead.” From there the video cuts to another teaser about how “possibilities unfold” on September 23rd. Unfortunately not much in the way of specifics. This does bring some interesting questions though. After all, there was a time when OPPO was asking about a Google Edition handset. While this is simple speculation at this point, it does look like this could be the path OPPO is taking towards releasing a Nexus-like or Google Edition-like handset. On the bright side, the announcement is just a few days away at this point. That means we will learn about how OPPO and Cyanogen are getting together as well as the specs for the N1. Otherwise, the folks at OPPO have only confirmed the N1 would feature a 5.9-inch display. The rumors have been pointing towards the N1 arriving with a 3500 mAh battery and a 12 megapixel rear-facing camera with Xenon flash. Back in August both docks hit the Moto website, but shortly were removed and no longer available. However, today they’re in stock and can be yours starting at $39.95, although they won’t come in fancy colors like the phone. 
Motorola partnered with Griffin, the popular accessory maker, and have released both a Power Dock for the desk, and a Car Dock for those wanting a little Google Music or Navigation while on the road. The Powerdock promises a perfect angle for viewing the device while it charges, and just like the car dock will be just under $40 bucks. The Car Dock will automatically engage hands-free mode once your device is connected, and is secure enough as expected to be able to mount to a dash, or even the windshield. They sold out fast on Griffin’s site, so you’d better hurry. 
We’ve already ordered one of each to take a peek at them once they arrive, and will be sure to test out how well the PowerDock works on a desk with a custom case. Although were not sure why you’d want to cover that custom colored Moto X with a case. Get them both from Motorola.com today at the link below. VIA: Moto | | OUYA system update improves game discovery, promises external storage support Sep 20th 2013, 16:43, by Robert Nelson Those with an OUYA game console may want to fire the system as an update has recently come available. This update has the focus being on game discovery, however there were also some fixes and promise of support coming for external storage. As well, this update brought talk of added currency support, which should make things a bit easier for those outside the US. 
With that in mind, this update is setting the groundwork for additional currency support for Pounds and Euros. The folks at OUYA have said this will be enabled next week and existing accounts will continue to transact in US dollars while new accounts will assume the correct currency for their region. As for the external storage, that was another item for the future. Except instead of a timeline of next week like we saw for currency, this one is a bit more open ended. At this point it seems this is something that is being worked on and “it’s coming.” “We understand everyone wants this feature (we do too!), so I just want to let y'all know that we are currently working on it. It's not a simple feature to do right, so know that we hear your feedback and are working on it as our top priority.”
Otherwise, those fixes include the following items; - Fixed an issue where sometimes a system update would cancel and not inform the user, so only a blank downloading bar would appear.
- Fixed an issue where high bandwidth could actually cause performance issues and crashes while navigating menus.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the OUYA to overheat in some cases.
- Fixed a handful of crashes that could occur after browsing DISCOVER for a long period of time.
As for the bigger portion of this update – game discovery. The folks at OUYA have broken this down into a few pieces. First up is that installed games are now moved to the back of their row in Discover. This should make it easier to find games you do not currently have. Users will also be able to bury games (push to the back of a row) by pressing the right thumbstick (R3). The last discovery related item is a bit simpler, but likely just as welcomed. Users will now be alerted when a game has finished downloading. And lastly, the folks at OUYA have done a little teasing.
