Just a couple of days ago, a report from Sam Mobile claimed that the rumored Galaxy Gear is real and coming soon. But Sam Mobile has been known to be wrong about its leaks from time to time, so it's good to get confirmation about the Gear smartwatch from a more authoritative source.
Bloomberg, an outlet with reputation beyond reproach, just confirmed that the Galaxy Gear is indeed going to be launched alongside the Note 3 at Samsung's Unpacked Episode 2 event in Berlin.
Citing "people familiar with the matter", Bloomberg says the Gear will be able to make calls, surf the web and handle e-mails, and that the device will be powered by an Android version. The publication also refuted the speculation that the Gear would be the first device to feature a flexible display. As we've heard from other sources, Samsung is working on flexible displays, but the technology isn't ready for prime time just yet.
That’s about all the hard info from the Bloomberg report, which goes on to speculate that Samsung has rushed to offer a wearable computer before Apple, which is reportedly planning a similar device for this year.
Would you buy a smartwatch from Samsung? If yes, at what price?
