Need to lock your missing Android smartphone or tablet? Maybe you need to wipe it clean and erase that guy lest your sensitive data falls into the wrong hands. Good news, Google now allows for this via its Android Device Manager.
As part of the Google Play services, the ADM lets you wipe or lock the device just so long as its connected to some data network. It doesn’t matter what level of security you have or what apps are loaded, the ADM will override the settings.
It’s not exactly new or innovative stuff, however it’s officially Google and that makes us feel safe. What about you?
To get started, you’ll simply need to open the Google Settings app on your Android device. You can select to allow for remote location, remote locking, and factory reset. Once enabled, you can head to the Android Device Manager and choose from your options.
Don’t forget, you can locate your misplaced Android by ringing it at maximum volume for five minutes straight.
