A new report for Taiwan says that Google and LG are "likely to partner" for a Nexus 5 smartphone that will be launched at some point in October.
The news comes from DigiTimes, an online publication that has a hit and miss track record with such rumors, but it's not exactly surprising considering the recent Nexus 5 rumors.
Not many details are offered on the Nexus 5 at this time by the website, and an actual release date is not given. However, DigiTimes says that the phone will target the mid-range segment, at least according to unnamed sources from "Taiwan-based supply chain makers" – thus implying mid-range prices for the device.
The report also notes that the handset will be similar to the LG G2 and says the phone will have a 5-inch Full HD display, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, LTE support and run Android 4.4 KitKat.
This isn't the first time we hear the Nexus 5 will be made by LG, not to mention that a recent report also claimed that the phone will be unveiled in mid-October. In fact, we already have an unannounced LG smartphone that’s a serious candidate for becoming the next Nexus handset – so far FCC, Bluetooth SIG and Wi-Fi certification documents back up the LG Nexus 5 rumor.
We'll be back with more details about the handset in the following weeks, as we wouldn't be surprised to see even more Nexus 5-related leaks hit the web, especially considering the plethora of Nexus 4 rumors we saw last year before the phone was launched.
