T-Mobile might have gone too far in their latest ad campaign. The National Advertising Division has scolded the carrier for making claims it can’t back up, issuing a statement calling for the ads to be either pulled or changed. NAD’s biggest beef was with T-Mobile’s claim that it offered 50 percent more bandwidth than AT&T. T-Mobile allegedly ignored LTE networks when making this claim, only including AT&T’s HSPA coverage.
T-Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer Mike Sievert is downplaying the claims, however, saying that NAD’s findings won’t result in “any substantial changes” to their marketing approach. AT&T declined to comment.
