Back in July, LG unveiled the LG G2's QuickWindow case ahead of the handset's official announcement. At the time this was regarded as a bit of an odd move, but – judging by today’s unveiling – it will apparently be a trend for LG, going forward.
The upcoming LG Vu 3 isn’t expected to arrive in Korea later this month, but that's not stopping the handset’s new cover from showing up.
As you likely noticed in the image above, the Vu 3 case is nothing like the LG G2′s Quick Window case. The Vu 3 case ditches the notification ‘window’ and instead utilizes semi-transparent material on the front, which allows special images and graphics to shine through the front cover. The end result is a cover that not only looks good, but is also very unique.
The big question is whether the Vu 3 can manage a greater level of success than the first two generations, which both did rather poorly outside of Korea.
Okay, so the case is pretty awesome – but what about the Vu 3, is it equally cool? Right now it's hard to say for sure, as details are still limited.
We can tell you that the Vu 3 will continue the line's use of a unique 4:3 aspect ratio.
Beyond that, the rumor mill suggests the handset will have a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 960, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU and a 13MP rear shooter. Not much else is known about the next-gen Vu.
The big question is whether the Vu 3 can manage a greater level of success than the first two generations, which both did rather poorly outside of Korea. Honestly, we have our doubts. While LG’s Vu 3 is a unique device, the 4:3 ratio just doesn’t sit well with many users.
What do you think, if the Vu 3 makes its way outside of Korea, would you be interested in the handset? Or does the Vu’s 4:3 aspect ratio turn you off?
