LG Nexus 4 8GB now out of stock on Google Play after $100 cut Sep 2nd 2013, 23:03, by Cory Gunther Last week Google shocked everyone by dropping the price on the already affordable and awesome LG Nexus 4 smartphone by $100. Making it an instant buy and one of the best deals for a smartphone around. Well, it certainly didn’t last long because a quick trip to the Play Store shows Google’s all out of the 8GB version already. Priced at $299 and $349 for the 8GB and 16GB was already a great deal. Especially considering the 4.7-inch 720p HD display, quad-core processor, 8 megapixel camera, and of course having the latest version of stock vanilla Android. Soon after the $100 price drop that $199 8GB option dried up quick, and we have a feeling the 16GB is only a few days behind. Google’s currently listing the 8GB as "We are out of inventory. Please check back soon." Instead of the usual out of stock comment, but we’re not sure if it will ever return. The listing states to check back soon, but we’re all hopeful a new Nexus 5 from LG or Motorola is coming soon. So far the rumor on the interwebs is a Motorola Nexus could replace the Nexus 4, with an even bigger better LG Nexus 5 based on the G2 to also arrive, but so far these are nothing but salty rumors. If Google follows years past, we’ll be seeing a late October release date for the next Nexus. This means the rumors should really start heating up any day now. Anyone considering snagging a Nexus 4 while they are still available might want to hurry, those 16GB models at $249 won’t last long. If you bought one, enjoy it. VIA: Play Store | Samsung Galaxy Note III confirmed with Snapdragon 800 in Korea Sep 2nd 2013, 21:59, by Cory Gunther At this point we know nearly everything about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note III flagship smartphone phablet. Set to be formally announced up on stage Wednesday at the Samsung Unpacked event. Today though, we’re still getting a flood of rumors, details, and even leaked “about phone” screenshots. The latest, a confirmation by one Korean carrier of the device internals. While we can already nearly confirm it will sport a 5.68-inch 1920 x 1080p full HD display and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, there’s been some back and forth regarding the processor powering the phone. From a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800, to the 8-core Samsung 5 Octa in select regions, to even a budget friendly model for emerging markets. We’ll know everything once Samsung confirms it Wednesday, but Korean carrier KT Corporation spilled the beans a bit early today. Mentioning the Snapdragon 800 quad-core specifically. SamMobile is reporting only 2.5 GB of RAM under the hood, but every other leak thus far has claimed 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a 13 megapixel camera on the rear. This phone is stacked. The slide above from KT Corp shows the LG G2, which runs the Snappy 800, the Galaxy S4 LTE-A model, which also runs the same 800, and then hints at the Galaxy Note III. It’s odd, but pretty much confirms what we already knew, and were expecting. As a reminder September 4th is when we’ll learn everything, early afternoon for those on the East Coast, so get excited. We’ll be live in Berlin with all the info and pictures. VIA: G for Games | NVIDIA Tegra Tab spotted and specs confirmed as it clears the NCC Sep 2nd 2013, 21:10, by Cory Gunther Back in August some new details and trademark filings revealed that NVIDIA was planning to enter the Android tablet market. With official press images and trademark details revealing a new Tegra 4 quad-core powered “Tegra Tab” coming in at 7-inches and rocking some impressive specs. Well, today we’ve got further confirmation as the device has just cleared the NCC, which is similar to our FCC, only for Taiwan. The NVIDIA Tegra Tab will be their second own-branded device, following the somewhat popular (but awesome) NVIDIA SHIELD game-console. Today’s NCC filing shows a model number listed as P1640, and instead of a mock-up press photo there’s a real image of the actual tablet hardware. So that’s a plus. They are certainly blurry photos, but at least the device is real and out in the wild. According to the NCC filing the specs are all just as previously rumored. Coming in with a 7-inch 1280 x768 HD display, and NVIDIA’s powerful 1.8 GHz quad-core Tegra 4 processor and 2GB of RAM under the hood. The filing further details a 5 megapixel rear camera, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, and plenty of ports to make it quite the gaming tablet. With micro-SD for expanded storage (to fit huge games like Asphalt 8) micro-USB, and even micro-HDMI to stream games to the bigscreen. Another important aspect is the inclusion of a SIM slot, which means this 7-inch gaming tablet could have 4G LTE when it hits the market later this year. The report also details stylus support, which we’ve seen in the past being built into the Tegra 4 software wise, so the screen probably won’t be any Note-like Wacom display tech. Hopefully we learn more about this device soon, and with it clearing some NCC tests surely more details are coming sooner than later. VIA: TechKiddy | |
