Every Android site that you’ve seen over the past few weeks has probably been screaming “ZOMG NEXUS 5 LEAK” to the point that you want to pound your head into the wall. But tonight brings us the mother of all leaks/rumors/halfway officialness. The Nexus 5 just showed up in the Google Play Store under the Nexus section. Then it was quickly yanked. Sadly, the product page wasn’t live yet but at least we could look at the mini info card which read, “Capture the everyday and the epic in fresh new ways. Starting at $349.”
What can we gather from this? Well, the 16GB model is going to be $349 which makes all of us nerds scream with joy. We can also determine that there are probably going to be some cool new features with the theme of capturing things in “fresh new ways.” This could even be interpreted to be referencing some sort of cool new camera feature. We can’t honestly be sure.
We’re also getting a nice look at the homescreen of Android 4.4 KitKat which certainly has some significant changes from the current look of Android. Notably, we see that there are different icons, a transparent status bar with opaque indicators, a transparent on-screen button background and the addition of Hangouts in the dock instead of the default SMS app. And just a fun fact, the wallpaper looks remarkably like the type of five that Google would probably put on the box. Just zoomed in a lot.
On a scale of “meh” to “SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY”, how excited are you for the Nexus 5?
