The 16GB Nexus 5 has been listed on the Google Play Store, with a price of $349 – most likely Google has published the page accidentally, and will soon be gone.
A tipster sent the information in to Android Police and we have been able to verify the information by going to the Google Play Store link provided (most likely a placeholder page for the Nexus 5: https://play.google.com/store/devices/collection/web_home_5000005_nexusUS), where we found the handset in all its tiny glory.
Here's the description of the Nexus 5 according to Google:
Nexus 5
Capture the everyday and the epic in fresh new ways. Starting at $349.
It's not immediately clear that we're looking at the 16GB model that's priced at $349, but once you click on the link you arrive at a placeholder page for the 16GB black Nexus 5 model (https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_5_black_16gb).
However, the page is not yet available to the public, so we can only assume that Google dropped the ball on this one – or did it on purpose to further increase the buzz around the Nexus 5 launch.
What's clear from the image is that the handset's starting price is $349, which means the 32GB model will top $400.
We'll note that the wallpaper on the Nexus 5 coincides with the one we've seen in recent leaks and that the Nexus 4 is not found on the website anymore, as you can see in the images above.
We'll be back with more details once they're available.
[Update:] The Nexus 5 has disappeared, and it looks like the Nexus 4 has returned. Too late though!
On a different but related note, we’ll point out that except for the time, the wallpaper and the back side of the device, everything in that press render picked up from Google’s servers (top image) looks very much like that Telus Nexus 5 leak we showed you a few hours ago (image above).
