Patent wars between Apple and Samsung have been raging for years and there really is no end in sight. The most recent breakthrough is that Apple is demanding Samsung give up $380 million for infringing on Apple’s patents.
This demand comes over a year after Apple won $1 billion from Samsung, even though this figure was later reduced to $600 million.
There are eight jurors assigned to determining how much Samsung should owe Apple for infringing on a total of five patents. The $380 million figure was calculated by Apple according to lost profits, profits that Samsung made and royalties owed. According to Apple, Samsung made over $3.5 billion in revenue by selling products that infringed on Apple’s patents.
The decision as to how much Apple is owed is expected to be made in the coming weeks, but another trial is set to start in March.
