Here’s some good news if you were planning on picking up a Moto G when it launches in the US next January; it will come with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, no software update needed. We had initially heard rumors that the device might launch with 4.4, but when it was announced, Motorola confirmed 4.3 for the device. However, since the update was slated for early 2014 anyway and the US version of the device isn’t being released at the same time as other devices, it’s apparently given Motorola and Google enough time to get the software up to snuff to launch with.
This is definitely good news and makes a compelling argument for the sub-$200 smartphone. It’s certainly not going to be able to compete with the Nexus 5 in benchmarks and pure processing power, but it’ll be able to say it’s one of the few devices that saw a KitKat update in a timely manner.
Anybody picking one of these up next year?
