LG made a splash last Thursday with the unveiling of the G2 in NYC, but things got a little ugly by Friday. LG held an event in Seoul promoting their new flagship and things got a little out of hand when they launched 100 balloons. Dubbed “G in the cloud”, each balloon had a certificate good for one free G2. Not a bad deal whatsoever. Unfortunately, fans started shooting at the balloons with BB guns in order to get the certificates. "Some were using BB guns to shoot the balloons. As far as I know, there were only some 20 security guards. LG should have placed more security personnel as the event was already promoted via social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and leading local portals. Some of the injured were hospitalized," a blogger wrote.

The result was that 20 people were injured and LG cancelled similar events they had planned across the nation. "We canceled events offering free G2 smartphones that had been scheduled in major cities nationwide, including Busan, due to safety concerns," the firm said in a statement. We have no idea how serious these injuries were, but LG did say they would cover all medical costs for those suffered. The following news spot from Korea shows some of the highlights from the event. They compare the event to the movie “World War Z”, and call this one “World War G”
