We received information that Google has just hired Apple's former Senior Director for product integrity, Simon Prakash. While both Steve Jobs and Eric Schmidt may have had a 'no poaching' agreement in the past, it seems like this is no longer in effect. This got us thinking if this will spark another series of patent issues and what-not.
Prakash was with Apple for 8 years and was recently the head for ensuring quality control for all Apple products. As of this writing, there is no news as to what Prakash's new title will be, or if he will ever be working on Android related tasks. We heard Google assigned him to work on a 'secret project.' Does this have something to do with the mysterious device they recently signed up for at the FCC?
But our source believes that this 'secret project' will be operated by Sergey Brin, Google's co-founder, who has also worked on multiple secret projects for the company.
Perhaps Apple will realize that they have lost a great man, considering that they have been well known for their product quality. But with Prakash's transfer to Google, we hope for better things to come!
And going back to that 'no poaching' agreement, the Department of Justice is currently investigating the two companies.

Anyway, we're more interested in this 'secret project.' Do you have a clue? The suspense is killing us! Can you give us a hint what you think it is all about?

Who's tired of the same old deal with Angry Birds and its Angry Birds Seasons app? If you are, we're hearing something fresh! Rumor as it, Angry Birds will be collaborating with KISS—yes, the metal band KISS. Although nothing's been finalized yet, THE Gene Simmons (KISS's frontman) supposedly spilled the beans about this possible tandem.
So where will KISS be making an appearance on the highly popular game? Well, it seems like the faces of this new Angry Birds version will be painted with KISS members. Android Community has made a mock up photo on how this idea could turn out to be.

Considering the band is no longer as huge as they used to be, we only have this question to ask our dear readers: are you looking forward to seeing Gene Simmons' Angry Bird face anytime soon? Okay, that was gross [sorry]!

Say goodbye to a past where business was confined to the four walls of an office. Technology has made it possible for us to be productive anywhere we go–outside the office, at home, or even at a coffee shop. But, since no person is an island, we often find ourselves needing to collaborate with other individuals from our field. Sometimes we’ll even need someone to provide us with a service requiring skills that we don’t have. As comprehensive as search engines can be, looking for the right people can be difficult. Thanks to Mingle, it’s now easier than ever to find and connect with professionals from all walks of life to get work done.
Mingle is a multi-platform, location-based app for Android- and iOS-powered devices. With a simple and easy user-friendly interface, Mingle becomes an ideal social networking platform that allows you to connect to your clients, employees, and employers on the go.
Previously only available on iOS, Mingle has finally made its way to Android. Professional networking is now possible wherever you go. Mingle opens up opportunities for professionals in your vicinity by introducing them to you. You don’t have to spend countless hours doing fruitless employee searches on the Internet. Just install Mingle on your Android device and you’re good to go.

To start using Mingle, you need an account on Facebook or LinkedIn. If you don’t have accounts on either of those sites, you can create a Mingle account right from the comfort of the app, and it’s for free.
Once you’ve logged in, introduce yourself. Provide details such as the main reason you’re using Mingle, your occupation, and your current location.  By providing the app with your preferences and requirements, it’ll allow Mingle to populate the three tabs at the top of the app. Find users Nearby, users who are Active, or take a leap of faith and check out the users in the Random tab.
You can check out the current job titles and locations of various users, to see which ones live closest to you or to check whose skills match your requirements. Once you’ve found someone whose skills match exactly what you’re looking for, tap on that contact’s username to start interacting.

You can send a question to the user of your choice and even view the user’s detailed profile, view the user’s contacts, and interact with the user more by sending virtual handshakes, an endorsement message, or even a smiley.
Without a doubt, Mingle will soon be every professional’s best friend to find other professionals, business people, or even students who’ll satisfy one’s collaborative and project needs.
If you’d like to start mingling with and finding professionals in your area today, get the Mingle app from the Android Market.

I bet if you just hang out at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) all day long, you'll discover who the latest to get a patent is. In most recent stories, Google is the latest to ask the FCC for permission. However, they have not disclosed what this mysterious 'entertainment device' is. All we know is that they got permission to use it in the four major US cities over the next 6 months. This got everyone pretty excited! The device was described as equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. According to GigaOm (who discovered the FCC application), Google submitted the request back in December.
As of the moment, there are unclear details about the device. This is why people have their own assumptions on whether it could be an Android or a Google TV device. But after reading the description of the device, it looks like this mysterious device will take video content straight from the internet and will distribute it across several connected devices. As experts have assumed, this would lessen strain on current broadband internet connections.
Because it is such a mystery, we couldn't help but snoop around as to what this device may be. As such, a number of theories have been generated—including an extension of Android @ Home, which was unveiled at Google IO 2011.
Another theory is that it is the Project Tungsten, which was only demonstrated as a central, connected device running on Android OS. At the time of its demonstration, Project Tungsten was merely a prototype. So maybe this is the real thing?
All we know, at this moment, is that Google is currently testing over 250 of these entertainment devices in various locations such as New York City, Massachusetts, and Los Angeles. At this point, all we can do is wait.

What do you think it could be? Let me know in the comments section below!

In lieu of Verizon Wireless' Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC), a video has been released by the company. This video describes how UCC will simplify each user's work experience, as well as prepare them for a future which is more secure.
While watching the clip, it is still hard to tell if there's anything new we will be seeing from Verizon. From the looks of it, Big Red only seemed to term wireless unity as 'UCC.'
Prior to Verizon's UCC, other platforms have already made its features available—including cloud based computing and storage, email, chat, and video conferencing. But compared to Verizon, other carriers did not make up a term for it. However, they still offer similar, if not the same, services that UCC does. The only edge Verizon has over others is that they have a 4G LTE connection.
Thanks to this LTE network, Verizon gets to do things faster and more efficiently. This is what keeps its customers pleased. But with a little research, you can also find other carriers who are capable of this efficiency.
Don't you agree?

What network are you using? And why did you choose it?

  • Enhanced search: In addition to searching for artists, albums, and songs, you can now search for playlists and people.

  • User profiles: Search, browse, and follow other Rdio users; discover new music by seeing their activity, who they follow, their playlists, and more.
  • And features of the previous version including Activity, Collection, Heavy Rotation, Playlists, Listening History, Syncing for offline access, and a variety of settings to control syncing and streaming on Wi-Fi or 3G.

Although the update has received several positive reactions, there are many who complain that the app is no longer working on their device. Perhaps Rdio will have to work on this, especially for their premium plan users.

So you remember that Android 2.3.6 update to the Samsung Infuse 4G that was released early then pulled then officially went out again late last week? Well it’s been put on hold, temporary. According to an answer in Samsung’s Support forums, things didn’t go quite as planned.
We currently have put a hold on the update. Samsung and AT&T are aware of the issue with the Infuse 4G Update and are developing a fix.
AT&T has confirmed that the update is indeed on hold and that “we are working with Samsung to get this resolved as quickly as we can”. For everyone still stuck on froyo, hang on a tastier treat is coming very soon.
Yeah this is the bad part about Android, you wait for ever for the update then it gets pulled or put on “hold”. We’ve seen this with a few devices, what we need is Google to update all Android devices during a length of a week or so. I mean some phones are still getting Gingerbread updates, that’s just wrong in an open source world.

Today Fedex brought me a cool new charger for my Android device to review. Have to give a big thanks to the guys over at The Gen for hooking us up with a review unit that we will be giving away. It is basically a charger unlike something you’ve ever seen before, in the world of Android. It’s best used as a desk charger, since Andru stands on the plug, so you could have him standing on your desk and make all your co-workers jealous. As you can see in the picture above I used my old HTC Sensation 4G as the guinea pig, and it works on my Droid Bionic as well as my Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant. It will work on any device that has a USB charger, just plug it into his head give it a go.
Later this week I will have my full review here for you guys to take a look at, and we will be posting the contest on Friday. So be sure to stick with Android Authority. You can purchase one online at powerbygen.com or androidcharger.com for just $25.

I want to apologize for the quality of the video, but the next video will be much better quality I guarantee it. There was an issue with my camera, that I am working on fixing.
