What's in a name: The Droid RAZR Ultra
Jul 15th 2013, 17:22, by Jerry Hildenbrand

Cellebrite

A Droid RAZR Ultra, by any other name, would still smell as sweet -- and sell like hotcakes

We don't particularly put a lot of faith into leaked CelleBrite screen shots, but this is one we had to pass along. Why? Because the Droid RAZR Ultra makes perfect sense.

The Droid RAZR line was a huge hit for Verizon and Motorola, and it would be a great way to use that success to push the next big thing from the two. We've all seen how branding can help a phone go from a success to a smash hit, and Verizon loves them some branding and labeling.

We won't be surprised if this is just one of those things and the RAZR name isn't attached to the Droid Ultra, but we also wouldn't be surprised if it were. If the leaks are to be believed, we'll know more soon.

Android World Update # HTC One in red available, only in UK

HTC One in red available, only in UK
Jul 15th 2013, 17:14, by Dima Aryeh

The HTC One has been a very popular phone with a large fan base, which is great for HTC; the company really needs every fan it can get right now. But color options for the One have been lacking. Silver was the only option available at launch, and a black model was released sometime afterward. Those colors may be sexy, but they’re not joyful. HTC is looking to add a little more pizazz to their lineup with the release of the glamor red HTC One.

This device is based on the black model, as you can tell by the black plastic inserts on the back and the sides. However, all the aluminum pieces are bright red. Otherwise, the device is the same phone we know and love with the 4.7-inch S-LCD 3, Snapdragon 600 and Sense 5.

Unfortunately, this color is currently exclusive to the UK. Retailer Phones4U is offering it for a variety of networks on contract, but US buyers are out of luck. We don’t know if or when HTC plans to release this device elsewhere, but we hope it’s soon. It would only boost sales after initial purchases have dropped off. Plus, some might find the standard colors boring. Would you buy a red HTC One over the other colors?

T-Mobile Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 update arrives with LTE support
Jul 15th 2013, 17:12, by Robert Nelson

T-Mobile had briefly mentioned they would be updating the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet in the “coming weeks.” That update was promising to bring LTE connectivity for the tablet and well, we have to say we were a bit surprised to see that update come available so quickly. Simply put, if you are sporting a T-Mobile branded Galaxy Tab 2 10.1and happen to be living somewhere the carrier has LTE — you want to grab this update.

The update will keep your device with Android 4.1.2, however the baseband will jump to version T779UVTMF4. That bit aside, the update measures in at 69.8MB in size and is bringing just one item — the previously mentioned LTE connectivity. As always, T-Mobile has said you will need to have an unrooted device and 50 percent of battery life to get the update.

This update will be available over-the-air and by way of a computer with Kies. The over-the-air update is available as of today (July 15th) and T-Mobile has asked users to “please wait for the notification” before trying to update. In addition, it was said the over-the-air update will continue through July 19th.

Basically, it looks like they will be rolling this update out to all Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 users over these few days. Bottom line here, this certainly sounds like a welcomed update, but we suspect it may only bring frustration for those who are still waiting for LTE to arrive where they live, work and play.

On the positive side though, T-Mobile has recently announced LTE coverage is available for more than 157 million people and across 116 markets. Or perhaps more important for those still waiting, the carrier has also said they are still on track to have coverage available for more than 200 million people across 200 markets before the end of 2013.

HTC One Max tipped to arrive in September to rival the Note 3
Jul 15th 2013, 16:42, by Cory Gunther

There is no shortage of HTC news lately with today’s reports suggesting the One Mini will arrive this month. And now we’re getting additional details on its bigger brother. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen or talked about the HTC One Max, but now we have a rumored release date. It’s being reported to arrive in early September, possibly in the first week to rival Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3.

HTCOne-ALL

Come September HTC could be revealing both the HTC One Max, as well as an HTC Tablet. While the latter is a bit of a stretch at this point in time, all rumors and reports are aiming towards an HTC One Max with a 5.9-inch 1080p display coming in the first week of September.

Later this summer HTC will unveil the One Max with a 5.9-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm’s 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, beats audio and more. It will look exactly like the HTC One and the mini, only be much bigger. We can also confirm that report based on earlier leaked blueprints. This latest rumor from MobileGeeks mentions a stylus, but the link above showed no such accessory, unless it won’t be stored inside the device like Samsung offers.

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 3 is rumored to have a 5.7-inch display, and we know it will be announced at IFA. However, the latest thoughts suggest Samsung will announce it September 4th a day or two before IFA officially kicks off to beat the news rush, and it sounds like HTC will be doing the same to fight them head on.

Between the HTC One Max, Galaxy Note 3, and the upcoming LG G2 users will have plenty of large-screen options coming up quick.
