LG Escape Jelly Bean update begins with AT&T

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 10:56 AM PDT

The LG Escape launched with AT&T as a budget-priced device back in September of last year. At the time the Escape was running Ice Cream Sandwich, however it looks like that will soon be changing. In fact, AT&T has said that Jelly Bean is now available for those carrying an LG Escape. The update is arriving as Android 4.1 and will be available over-the-air.

LG_Escape_2_201209101033421-270x540

With that in mind, and given many already know what Jelly Bean brings in terms of new features — lets get into the how. Those with an LG Escape should make sure they are connected to Wi-Fi and then navigate to Menu -> Settings -> General -> About phone -> Software Update -> Update Now to get the process started. Now, onto the changes that one can expect.

Jelly Bean brings Google Now along with the smoothness from Project Butter. Basically, that is to say those who update should see a noticeable difference. In addition, Jelly Bean also brings improved notifications. These include everything from common notifications being grouped, to being able to take action such as reply or archiving an email from Gmail and also seeing the full text or full image in a text or MMS message.

Aside from the regular Jelly Bean goodies, AT&T has also added a feature of their own. With this, LG Escape users will also see the addition of AT&T DriveMode. This one, as implied by the name, deals with in-car use. Basically, DriveMode will help to keep you from texting while driving. This is done by (assuming the app is activated and set-up) automatically replying to incoming texts, and email messages as well as incoming calls once your car gets to 25 mph.

LG Mobile event set for May 1st – Optimus G Pro incoming

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 10:43 AM PDT

It looks like the folks from LG are looking to shake up the launch plans for both the HTC One, and Samsung’s GALAXY S 4. Today they’ve just issued a set of “Save the Date” event and announcement invitations confirming they’ll have something on display come May 1st in New York City. We have a few guesses as to what smartphone they’ll release so head on past the break for more details.

lg-save

LG has been working rather hard to get into this next-level of smartphones to compete with Samsung and others, and their past few devices certainly show some progress. With the LG Nexus 4 and the Optimus G they had great devices, and they look to continue that trend with the Optimus G Pro.

The company revealed the newly improved 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p full HD smartphone the LG Optimus G Pro back at Mobile World Congress, and we have a feeling it will be hitting AT&T in early May. While we can’t be certain that will be all they show off, most likely it will take center stage at their event on May 1st. The invite above also suggests it could be at Radio City Music Hall, just like the Galaxy S 4 – just a thought.

lg_optimus_g_pro_hands-on_ac_1-540x41911

Previously we’ve reported the Optimus G Pro could hit AT&T in the U.S. as early as May 10th according to our sources, and last month the device even hit the FCC complete with AT&T 4G LTE on board. It’s only a matter of time and it sounds like we’ll be learning all of LG’s plans come May 1st in New York City. As usual we’ll be there live with all the details so stay tuned. Hit the links below for more details and hands-on with the G Pro.

Outlook.com for Android update brings new look and new features

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 10:23 AM PDT

Microsoft has rolled out the latest update for the Outlook.com email app on Android. The update is available by way of the Google Play Store, but perhaps more important is what that update brings. This latest update has arrived with a version number of 7.8.2.11.48.3439 and the app supports Android 2.3 or later. Users can expect to find an updated design along with some new features.

outlook-for-android-update-540

Beginning first with the new look. Microsoft has said that while they have received an overall positive response with the Outlook.com app, they have “been behind” and are taking a “large step forward” with this update. You can judge for yourself it the step can truly be considered large, however in terms of looks, those using the app can expect to see something that has the “look and feel you’ve come to love on Windows 8.”

Aside from an update in design, the app has also been given some new features. To begin with, you can now mark messages as junk. Maybe that is what they were referring to as being a bit behind. Anyway, in keeping with that thought, Outlook.com users will also be able to filter messages by unread and flagged.

There was also the introduction of conversation threading. Otherwise, the Outlook.com app still allows you to sync your Calendar and Contacts as well as view and sync folders — including sub-folders. Lastly, some of the remaining (and previously existing) features include search and the ability to have multiple accounts.

Verizon Galaxy S 4 appears on Samsung site, still not available to pre-order

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 10:09 AM PDT

For all those customers on Verizon Wireless that have been waiting for some news regarding the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4, we might finally have some. Big Red hasn’t said a word about the device since it was announced, and we’ve all been wondering. Aside from a leaked Staples release date everything is still up in the air.

GS4_Verizon_White_400x400_large1_HERO_1

Today, or at least within the past 24-48 hours Samsung has updated their website with a clear image and indication of the Verizon Galaxy S 4. We knew it was coming, and there’s no way Big Red would pass it up, but this officially confirms it in some sort of manor. Oh and check it out, no massive Verizon logo on the home button this time. Maybe they got the message after the Note II.

With AT&T, T-Mobile and others all confirming the Galaxy S 4 was headed to their customers, and some even offering free S-Flip cases and pre-order dates, we’ve heard nothing from Verizon. According to Staples they will be last to the market (as usual) and we could see the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4 arrive on May 30th – a whole month later than AT&T.

GS4_Verizon_Black_400x400_large1_HERO_1

Just like the Galaxy S III, the Galaxy S 4 will be available from all carriers with the exact same specs, screen size, and everything else. This 5-inch 1080p quad-core smartphone surely is impressive and hit our links and hands-on coverage below for more details. We’re just happy to finally see something with Verizon attached to it, yet also glad we aren’t seeing huge logos covering the entire smartphone front or back. Stay tuned as a pre-order or release date should be arriving soon.

Eric Schmidt claims Motorola’s upcoming products are “phenomenal”

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 09:41 AM PDT

This afternoon while speaking at the AllThingsD Dive Into Mobile conference our good friend Eric Schmidt and former CEO of Google had some interesting and juicy comments regarding Android. We’ve shared a few of his statements this afternoon about Android activations, Samsung’s role in Android and more, but now lets talk about Motorola.

motorola-with-google1112

Google recently acquired Motorola Mobility and we’ve all been waiting to see that entire deal come to fruition. And when we say come to fruition we mean see the next smartphones and tablets from Motorola with Google at the helm. While there’s been countless X-Phone rumors and all sorts of information, the details remain unclear regarding what we can truly expect.

We’ve heard reports from Google’s CFO that Motorola had 18 months of product development in the pipeline we’ll have to wait out, and that the devices didn’t exactly “WOW Google” but today Schmidt had something very different to say. When asked about Motorola’s current stance as well as their future with Google moving forward Eric Schmidt had some kind words.

“They have a new set of products that I have seen that are phenomenal.”

That isn’t all from Eric Schmidt either. Once pushed a little more on what we can expect to see he nicely gave us something to be excited about moving forward too and said we should “wait and see for this next generation of technology, it's very impressive.” Then that was followed up with questions regarding smartphones, tablets, or both and he said think of it as “phones plus.” Whatever that means. Could that be some phablets from Motorola coming soon? I hope not.

Screen-Shot-2013-04-12-at-2.20.03-PM-540x344

Motorola has done a good job this time around keeping their upcoming products a secret, and we haven’t seen nearly the amount of leaks that other devices like the Bionic, RAZR, RAZR HD and more saw. Hopefully we learn more soon, and we’re excited for the possibilities coming to Google I/O in late May.

Samsung Roma leak reveals a high-end Jelly Bean tablet

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 09:33 AM PDT

Specs for another Samsung tablet have leaked. This latest is said to be sporting a codename of Roma, which some may remember from a while back. In the past we have seen the Roma carrying the model number of P-8200, but putting that to the side — as of today it looks like the full set of specs have leaked.

Samsung-Roma-Android-tablet-leaked

The good news is these specs are a bit nicer as compared to what we saw yesterday. Of course, previous rumors had pegged the P-8200 Roma as being a high-end device. With that in mind, the specs begin with a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, a dual-core 1.7GHz Samsung Exynos 5 Dual processor and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Other specs from this leaked list include a Mali-T604 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (with support for cards up to 128GB in size), 9000 mAh battery, 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera and a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with auto-focus. In addition, the Roma is expected to come available with options for 3G/HSPA connectivity as well as 4G LTE connectivity.

Otherwise, the basics such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 will also be included along with microUSB and DLNA. While the specs seem to be rather nice in this case, we have to put out the reminder that we are still talking about a leak. Simply put, nothing is official until we get the details from Samsung.

LG Optimus Zone tipped as upcoming entry-level Verizon handset

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 08:57 AM PDT

Verizon Wireless recently released the LG Lucid 2 as a free on-contract device and while we were generally pleased with that handset in the time we spent with it, we are not entirely sure the same can be said about another entry-level device. The latest is the LG Optimus L3, which is said to be coming to Verizon as the LG Optimus Zone. Keep in mind though, we are talking about the Optimus L3, not the Optimus L3 II.

lg-optimus-l3-540

Basically, assuming this plays out as expected, Big Red will be bringing a year-old device to market. That by itself should tell you something about the specs. The details are coming by way of @evleaks who notes the handset will arrive sporting the model number of LGVS410PP. Perhaps more telling of the age, the handset is said to be running Gingerbread.

lg_optimus_zone

If you can get past that, which we aren’t sure many can — even for free, the handset will have specs to include a 3.2-inch (320 x 240) QVGA display, 800MHz processor and 3.15 megapixel rear-facing camera. Needless to say, Verizon Wireless is expected to offer the Optimus Zone for free.

Sadly that is free on a two-year agreement though. Those who may find themselves crazy enough to consider this handset should begin looking for availability to begin sometime around the end of the month. If nothing else, the one item we can see that is positive is the fact the handset is small in size, which actually may be appealing for someone.

T-Mobile, MetroPCS merger receives unanimous board of directors approval

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 08:16 AM PDT

The merger still needs the official nod from the stockholders, however the MetroPCS board of directors has given their approval. The details come by way of a recently issued MetroPCS press release which states that the “board unanimously recommends that MetroPCS stockholders vote their shares “FOR” all proposals relating to the proposed combination with T-Mobile.” Basically, the MetroPCS and T-Mobile merger continues to move forward.

MetroPCS-moves-back-shareholder-meeting-to-April-12th111111

The MetroPCS shareholder meeting, which was previously postponed, is now scheduled for April 24, 2013. Earlier details on the merger show approvals as coming from the Department of Justice, FCC and the Committee on Foreign Investment. In other words, all the regulatory approvals have been given and the only remaining approval needs to come from the stockholders.

Aside from the approvals side, some of the merger related news came by way of Deutsche Telekom who gave their “best and final” offer earlier in the month. This news included how Deutsche Telekom was going to lower the shareholder loans by $3.8 billion which brought the new number to $11.2 billion (down from $15 billion).

It was said that the decrease would be "significantly increasing the equity value of the combined company." Deutsche Telekom also reduced the interest rate on these shareholder loans by 50 basis points and have committed to a lockup period which will keep them from publicly selling their shares for 18 months (this was upped from 12 months). All said and done, we now look towards April 24 for the stockholders meeting.

Eric Schmidt: Samsung helped to “define Android”

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 07:48 AM PDT

We heard some of the key numbers from Eric Schmidt during his time onstage at the Dive Into Mobile 2013 event, however that was far from the only item he talked about. Some of the other items included everything from his book to medical to security, however one in particular that we took note of was in regards to Samsung.

While we have heard a few bits and pieces about the relationship between Samsung and Google as of late, his comments today were rather interesting. In particular, during the question and answer portion of the event Schmidt was asked about Samsung’s relationship with Google. Basically, is the relationship healthy, to which Schmidt replied that it is “very healthy.”

Getting a bit more in depth, he also went on to note that he doesn’t think you’ll see much of a change and about how it has turned out to be a “defining” relationship. Not only that, Schmidt has said that he will “always appreciate their decision to go Android early on” because it has ultimately “helped to define Android.”

That should alleviate any concern of the two companies not being on good grounds. Of course, that wasn’t the only time Schmidt talked of, or mentioned Samsung. He also touched on the topic in the beginning of his talk. Schmidt, after commenting on the specifc numbers, mentioned that Samsung was the number one vendor for unit volume.

Eric Schmidt: Android seeing 1.5 million activations daily

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 07:23 AM PDT

Eric Schmidt has recently taken the stage at Dive Into Mobile 2013 and as one almost expects at this time, he talked some numbers. In this case, Schmidt was talking about Android giving some details in terms of operators, countries, available apps and the sales and activations. Beginning first with the one that many seem most interested in, Android is now seeing 1.5 million in sales and activations every day.

Googles-Eric-Schmidt-007

Shifting to those remaining numbers, there are now about 700,000 apps available in the Google Play Store with Android being available from 320 operators and in 160 countries. Putting the number stats aside for a moment and we look at a fact of the present and a predication of where pricing will be heading as we move forward.

Schmidt has said that Samsung is currently the top vendor due to unit volume. Toward the future though, Schmidt expects prices to drop. He has said that he believes devices will be “significantly cheaper” in two years, but that is provided memory requirements don’t see a massive increase. Another interesting topic coming from his talk touched on the subject of actually using a phone.

He noted that “no one uses a phone by themselves any longer” going on to say that “most people aren’t even making calls.” While that may be true, Schmidt seems to be talking about a wide variety of topics today including everything from his book to medical to the problem with feature phones being the lack of a browser. And for those Android users feeling nostalgic, he had a T-Mobile G1 up on stage to help demonstrate the growth of Android.

US Cellular offering free S View Flip Cover with GALAXY S 4 pre-orders

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 06:43 AM PDT

US Cellular, coming just as was expected, has officially begun accepting pre-orders for the Samsung GALAXY S 4. This comes in addition to the pre-orders with AT&T, however while they both have the handset priced the same, US Cellular is offering a perk for those who pre-order. Basically, US Cellular is giving a free S View Flip Cover.

Screen-Shot-2013-03-26-at-9.45.10-AM-540x3401

The US Cellular GALAXY S 4 is priced at $199.99 on a two-year agreement and the handset is available in Frost White or Black Mist. And just to clarify, this is the 16GB model. Otherwise, US Cellular has the full retail price of the handset noted as $749.99. Basically, we suspect most, if not all of the US Cellular customers choosing the GALAXY S 4 will go the on-contract route. But in the end, we suppose it is nice to have the option.

In terms of the free cover offer, the carrier has this noted as being available while supplies last. It also appears as of you will get a color that matches your device. Simply put, if you order the white GALAXY S 4, you will get a white S View Flip Cover. The fine print for the flip cover offer also states they may be sent separately from the device and that they will automatically be added to the orders.

Otherwise, unlike AT&T, US Cellular has yet to announce a specific shipping date for the GALAXY S 4. Details on the US Cellular pre-order page note that the GALAXY S 4 is “scheduled to ship approximately 4 weeks from pre-order start date (April 16, 2013)” and that those who place a pre-order can expect to have their credit card charged within 72 hours from when you place the order.

AT&T GALAXY S 4 pre-orders set to ship on April 30

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 06:24 AM PDT

Coming as was previously announced, AT&T has begun accepting pre-orders for the GALAXY S 4 this morning. The handset is available in both black and white and priced at $199.99 on a new two-year agreement. This is for the 16GB model and while AT&T is also expected to have a 32GB model available, that one has yet to show as being up for pre-order.

Screen-Shot-2013-03-14-at-1.18.54-PM-540x43311

Not that we expect many to take this route, however those looking to ditch the two-year agreement have the option to shell out the full retail pricing. In this case, that would be $639.99. Comparing the AT&T price to the other carriers, we know that T-Mobile will have the GALAXY S 4 available with a downpayment of $99 (with additional monthly payments).

T-Mobile is expected to have the handset available on May 1. There is also US Cellular who will begin accepting pre-orders today. US Cellular will have the 16GB GALAXY S 4 priced the same as AT&T, that is to say at $199.99 on a two-year agreement. Of course, regardless of where you make the purchase you are looking at a handset that is running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and powered by a 1.9GHz Qualcomm processor with 2GB of RAM and a 5-inch (1920 x 1080) HD Super AMOLED display at 441ppi.

Otherwise, with AT&T having opened up pre-orders for the GALAXY S 4 it now looks like it is time the user to make a decision on which handset to choose. Remember there is also the HTC One, which is priced at $199.99 for the 32GB model. The 64GB One is priced at $299.99 and according to the latest from AT&T — the HTC One should begin shipping today.

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 06:05 AM PDT

BLU Products makes some inexpensive unlocked Android smartphones. One of the company’s more popular products is called the Vivo 4.3. The company has announced today that it has launched a new Android software update for the smartphone.

The Android update brings the smartphone to Android 4.1. The update optimizes the user experience on the device and brings better performance, improved search, better touchscreen responsiveness, and actionable notifications. BLU is also announced that it has ditched its custom Android launcher and will be using the standard Android launcher moving forward.

That will be good news to a lot of people who prefer no custom software between them and Android. The company says it will begin using the standard Android launcher for all of its products and in all future firmware updates. The update also promises improved battery life and more.

The company has also announced three new colors for the Vivo 4.3. The new colors include pink, white, and yellow. Other than new colors the features of the phone remain the same including a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 800 and 4 GB of internal storage. The phone also features an eight-megapixel rear camera with a 1.3-megapixel front camera, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. The new software update should be available to download now.

Orange Libon for Android goes live

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 05:50 AM PDT

Wireless carrier Orange announced today that its all-in-one communications application for Android users called Libon is now available. The app is available as a free download via Google Play and offers Android users free calls, smart messaging, and a personalized visual voicemail system. This application was made available for iPhone users in November of last year.

libon1-619

The official launch this week marks the first time the application has been available on the Android platform. Users on Android and iOS devices can use the application to connect with other users on both platforms. The application is supported on any network in over 100 countries.

The application promises free HD quality voice calls between users of the application no matter during the same country or around the world. Each person has to be using the application for the free calls to work and calls can be placed on Wi-Fi or 3G networks. The free messages promise to be as easy-to-use as any SMS messaging system.

The application will also convert voice messages into text messages in English, French, or Spanish. All of the contacts, conversations, and messages conducted using the application are synchronized and saved to the cloud. The application also supports the sharing of photographs via the Photo Gallery. The application supports Android version 2.2 and up if the device has a minimum screen resolution of at least HVGA.

HipChat version 2.0 brings native redesign and more

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 05:36 AM PDT

A new update is currently rolling out for the HipChat Android application. HipChat is a group chat tool and the new update brings the application to version 2.0. The developers of the app say that the new update was the result of beta testing that has been ongoing over the last several months.

landscapeview

The developers say the modifications made to version 2.0 of the application are the result of feedback from over 4500 installations of the beta app. The redesign makes the app a more native Android user interface. The developers also updated the design to reflect the most recent guidelines for Android applications.

Version 2.0 the app is designed to work on a broader spectrum of Android versions from 2.2 up. The update brings a sliding menu to the app for easier navigation between rooms and different chats. Photos can also be uploaded directly via the app from your library or the device camera.

The developers of the application say that the beta version of the app will continue to be available separately on the Google Play store offering more frequent updates. However, users who want a more stable application can download HipChat 2.0 right now and will receive less frequent updates along the way.

Google places strict restrictions on Glass Explorer Edition developers

Posted: 16 Apr 2013 05:16 AM PDT

Developers planning on building applications to run on the Google Glass Explorer Edition headsets will face some rather strict limitations from Google. The limitations placed on the Glass developers are very strict when you consider how open Android is as a platform is on its own. Google is reserving the right to remotely strip out functionality from apps designed to run on the headset.

glass9-580x388

The Terms of Sale that come with the glasses, which began shipping to developers this week, puts very specific limits on who is allowed to use the headset. Google also notes that it can update the Glass Explorer Edition glasses to remove features it decides are dangerous or doesn’t reflect how it thinks wearable computing should evolve.

The restrictions placed on the Explorer Edition glasses also say that developers can only purchase one device. Google also says that the developers can’t resell, loan, transfer, or get the device to anyone else. If the developer sells, loans, or gives the device to anyone else, Google has the right to deactivate the glasses remotely.

Google goes so far as to say that if the glasses are deactivated no refunds, product support, or warranty will be given. It sounds like a lot of the strict limitations are intended to prevent any developer who may have eyes on making a big profit from selling the device on eBay or renting them out. There are some questions remaining such as if the device was published by a dev company it’s unclear whether or not multiple members among the group can share the glasses.

Google Glass specs revealed, offers 16GB of storage and 5MP camera

Posted: 15 Apr 2013 11:26 PM PDT

As we noted on Monday, Google has proclaimed the rumors that Glass Explorer edition devices will begin shipping soon to be true, with some of them possibly having been shipped today, and the rest slated to follow in waves over the coming weeks. The Internet giant followed the announcement up with the release of Mirror API documentation and sample code, and has now released a support page that (finally) details Glass’s tech specs.

Google Glass

First up: the display. According to the support documentation page, Glass' tiny in-front-of-the-eye display offer a high-resolution look at everything you do that is the equivalent of looking at a 25-inch high definition TV from 8-feet away. The display is mounted on what is boasted as a durable frame that can fit anyone, with the only adjustable piece being the nose pads.

Audio is offered via bone conduction technology, so there's no discomfort or inconvenience that would come from walking around with an ear bud in all day. Such all day use is facilitated by the device's battery; while its capacity wasn't specified, the support page says that a charge lasts all day, and so worries that Glass will require mid-day charges to keep going can be put to rest.

Storage is a decent 16GB, and the camera has a 5-megapixel sensor that supports up to 720p video recording. Connectivity is standard across the board: 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a micro USB port for both data and charging. Glass will come with its own charging device, and Google advises against using a third-party charger. Last but not least, the wearable device is compatible with any handset running at least Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich and the MyGlass app, which you can get now from the Play Store.

Google Glass Explorer edition gets official – starts shipping today

Posted: 15 Apr 2013 04:45 PM PDT

We have some excellent news being delivered right into our inbox today regarding the popular and exciting Google Glass. While we’ve heard a few reports that they could begin shipping within the next month, today Google has confirmed exactly that. That isn’t all either, they confirmed that the developer Explorer edition hardware and software is final, already being produced and some could start shipping to developers as soon as today.

google_glass_ui_leak_hero-580x3951-540x367

Google Glass was shown off and revealed just under a year ago at Google I/O in San Francisco, and now less than a year later they are ready for those who pre-ordered (me) and should start shipping any day now. I’m getting so excited, you don’t even know. Or do you? Emails are going out to Explorer edition developers as we speak.

The update just hit our inbox from Google themselves. Confirming the Google Glass Explorer pre-order edition had roughly 2,000 buyers who are up to the task to take on Project Glass. Google goes on to mention that both “the hardware and software are now ready for you.” Whatever that means. Obviously the software isn’t 100% final, but it’s good enough for developers to get their paws all over it according to Google.

google-glass-540x3591

To wrap things up Google confirms they are seeing the first of many official pairs of Google Glass come off the production line today, then tease us all by saying, “we want to start delivering them to you now.” They want to, but don’t say they actually are. Google will be notifying explorers who pre-ordered and will start shipping them out in waves. In closing Google says they can’t wait to share Glass with us, and here’s to the next step!

So there it is. Google Glass is shipping this month, and will be in the hands of thousands of developers by middle of May just in time for Google I/O. Exciting right? I just want mine right now. Stay tuned folks!

AT&T HTC One bootloader unlocked by HTCdev site

Posted: 15 Apr 2013 03:08 PM PDT

The brand new flagship HTC One smartphone surely is an impressive handset, but we know many of you have been waiting and wondering if the bootloader would be unlocked, or at least unlockable using the HTCdev site. While HTC has been better lately about unlocking many devices bootloaders, they have a dev edition up for sale leading many to believe the One would be locked down.

one-lock

However today the news broke over on XDA that the official HTC Dev bootloader unlock site that was released last year will let you unlock the bootloader on the One. At least for now. We are not sure at this point if the initial release software from AT&T and HTC allow it and this will be closed, or if HTC indeed plans on allowing this device to be fully unlocked with the appropriate channel.

For now it appears that the device will be able to be unlocked and free from HTC and AT&T’s handcuffs. From there users will be able to root and do as they please and flash all types of custom ROM’s for the handset. CM10.1 on the One sure would be nice, right. Hopefully things stay this way for the impressive new device. And hey, maybe this is why Verizon opted to pass on getting the HTC One – it wouldn’t surprise me.

Once the device becomes available to the mass public in the coming weeks on AT&T we’ll find out for sure if things will stay this way, or if AT&T and HTC will patch this up and lock her down. The unlocked developer model goes on sale April 23rd. In the meantime if you managed to get one early this weekend, head to the HTCDev site and give it a try.

Manuganu ‘platform runner’ game jumps onto the Play Store

Posted: 15 Apr 2013 02:11 PM PDT

If you’re a fan of awesome running games like Temple Run, or enjoy the casual platform game for Android we have a brand new just launched game worth taking a look at. It’s called MANUGANU, which reminds me a bit of Crash Bandicoot to say the least, and the graphics are excellent. Check out the details, screenshots, and release trailer video below.

Screenshot_2013-04-15-13-22-05

The developers explain this awesome brand new Android game as a “platform runner’ that delivers pure action to your smartphone or tablet. We’ll be able to Run, jump and slide from ropes, dodge rocks and more but they even claim that isn’t all either. Manuganu offers much much more.

You’ll be jumping over spikes and rocks, avoiding huge hammers and all types of exciting stuff all in great detail and graphics with a fun and casual gameplay style. It is essentially a casual and fun 3-D side scrolling action game. It has great graphics and pretty neat sound effects too. Check out the launch video below:

You’ll be running and jumping your way through over 30 completely unique and different levels, and everything is the familiar 3-star system for completion. The game is completely free but we do have some in-game ads between actual levels and menus. All 30 levels will also change with the 3 different level theme options as well, so you’ll have plenty of options to help you pass the time.

It is pretty fun and casual from our limited time with it, and there’s instructions you can read or pass at the beginning of challenging levels. And again, the graphics are pretty sweet. It got our Nexus 7 pretty warm rather quickly, but most newer dual-core and above smartphones should handle it quite well. Not bad not bad. Give it a try today from the link below.
