Samsung to Open First Two ‘PIN’ Retail Locations in the UK on May 29th

Posted: 27 May 2012 03:11 PM PDT

When Samsung announced the upcoming Galaxy S III they made sure to tell us that they had “one more thing” up their sleeve. No, it wasn’t the previously rumored S-Cloud, or even the rumored mysterious 10-inch tablet, it was the announcement of their new “PIN” pop-up retail locations. If you will remember back, PIN is a small retail store in where Samsung plans to give people an up close and personal experience with the new GSIII. At the time of the announcement we really didn’t know when and where these temporary kiosk-like stores would pop up, but now we are hearing that UK folks will get first glimpse. Scheduled to open on May 29th, Westfield’s Shepherd’s Bush and Old Spitalfields Market will be the first two PIN locations to open with more to follow in the coming months. Samsung also has plans to erect many of these overseas so you may eventually get one in your home town as well.

Anyone in the UK planning to stop by one of these two locations on the 29th? If so, send us some pictures!

Come and meet the world’s thinnest smart phone

Posted: 27 May 2012 01:17 PM PDT

Move over Motorola RAZR, there’s a new claim to the thinnest smartphone crown. At only 6.65mm thick the Oppo Finder not only boasts an unbelievably skinny profile, it doesn’t skimp on the tech either. That razor thin chassis houses a 4.3″ Super AMOLED plus display, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB internal storage, Android 4.0 and an 8 MP rear camera with a 1.3 MP front camera. However you look at it, that’s an incredible feat of engineering.

You’ll be able to pre-order the phone in China from June this year with a sim-free price of ¥3,999 ($631). There’s no word on worldwide availability at this time although I’m sure it won’t take up too much room in your hand luggage if you fancy going to fetch one!

Check out the video below and be sure to let us know if this svelte little device tickles your fancy!

Motorola Shows Off Ice Cream Sandwich For The DROID RAZR [Videos]

Posted: 27 May 2012 01:45 AM PDT

When Motorola released their updated Ice Cream Sandwich timeline, we learned that the DROID RAZR would get it before the end of June. Of course, Motorola will add its own manufacturer skin, known as Motoblur, on top of ICS to give it their own flavor.

Just how will the latest Motoblur look on the RAZR? Motorola is giving us a peek through a series of videos on their Japanese RAZR site. These videos cover everything, including the new lock screen, Webtop 3.0, taking screenshots, navigation, and more. In all, there are 15 videos covering just about everything you want to see of the RAZR’s ICS build.

Motoblur has been consistently panned by Android enthusiasts and media in the past, but it seems they are slimming down their latest skin to give the OS a distinctively Moto flair, but keeping ICS’s soul and essence intact.

First 50 Galaxy S III Owners Get Olympic Tix

Posted: 26 May 2012 08:24 PM PDT

Samsung UK announced that customers who pre-ordered the S III at the Samsung store in London's Westfield Stratford City will get their phone on May 29th. Now, invites are being sent out confirming this date. First sales will begin at 6pm for those who pre-ordered.

What’s even cooler, though, is that the first 50 Galaxy S III’s sold at this store will get free tickets to the London Olympic games. This promotion makes sense since the S III is the official phone of the Olympics, and other Samsung devices, such as the Galaxy Note and Galaxy Y, are coming out with “Olympic Editions“.

Bell pushing Ice Cream Sandwich to the HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Raider 4G

Posted: 26 May 2012 08:24 PM PDT

At last Bell customers rocking either HTC’s Sensation 4G or Raider 4G can join the Android 4.0 bandwagon after the Canadian carrier started the roll out today. The Android version is 4.03 which is skinned with sense version 3.6, it looks like you’ll have to wait for 4.04 if you plan on keeping up with those HTC One owners running sense version 4.

The update is already arriving on handsets so if yours hasn’t popped up in the notification bar just yet, it might be time to start hitting the ‘check for updates’ button every 5 minutes! Happy updating, be sure to pop back in and let us know how that Ice Cream Sandwich tastes.
