Samsung’s “Jasper” makes an appearance again, this time at FCC

The Jasper is one shy device. After making an appearance at the Bluetooth SIG two months ago we’ve finally gotten some more information for the SCH-I200, upon the release of it’s FCC documents. What do we seem to be looking at? A mid range addition to Verizon’s LTE stable playing second fiddle to the S III.

A little summary on what we do know so far: the Jasper’s got the Snapdragon S4 clocked at 1.5 GHz onboard, runs ICS and has an 854X480 pixel screen. The Gem and the Illusion, previous mid-range phones, were numbered the I100 and I110, so the Jasper looks like a successor to the two. It scored 2853 on the GLBenchmark, which is respectable.

Wimbledon releases Android app for this summer’s Championships

I love Wimbledon. I’m not much of a tennis fan, but something about the Championships has always, always attracted me. The history of the event, the legendary duels that took place, the all-white dress code that still exists today. I usually tune in only for the finals, or for the semis once in a while, but I’m always keeping track of the score.

And, fortunately, this time around the organizers have made it even easier to do so with their app. Developed in association with IBM (who have for long been present at the tournament, compiling statistics in detail) has some cool stuff in it. Sure, the look isn’t great (and it seems to be down to IBM here, who worked on the US Open golf app, and that wasn’t a beauty either), but they’ve innovated in certain aspects.

One feature that the app proudly touts is Live @Wimbledon, a commentary service with three channels, one for Center Court and Court No.1 (where the big matches occur) and an additional one. There are also ton of video previews, interviews, highlights, and the lot, and profiles of all the players competing. If you’re lucky enough to be in London for the tournament, the app also has a feature to help you locate all the facilities around the courts.

Pinterest Android app could be launching at this I/O

If you’re a Pinterestee (that’s what they call ‘em, right?) you’ve probably been moaning over the lack of an Android app for a while now. Well, fret no longer. Or actually, just for a couple of days more. Because it looks pretty clear that the Pinterest for Android app is right around the corner.

People over at Ausdroid spotted a mention of Pinterest, Inc in the Google I/O app sandbox, which clearly states “Now available for Android”. The screenshot from the I/O app is attached below. If the news breaks at the conference, we’ll be right there to report it.

If you’re still holding out for a Galaxy Note on T-Mobile, it looks like you might finally get what your heart desires. Cellphone Signal has quite confidently posted July 11th as the date, after getting their hands on some official looking photos of the phablet with the T-Mobile logo on it. And it should come with HSPA+.

How many of you are still have the Note on the top of your wishlist?

What to expect from Google IO 2012 [Video]

Posted: 24 Jun 2012 03:02 AM PDT

Google IO is just around the corner and we will be in San Francisco getting all the goodies next week. But what exactly will we be seeing at Google’s developer conference? There is a flurry of new products, services and features expected to be announced, so we wanted to take some time to discuss everything with you.

The main expected and rumored announcements include that of Jelly Bean (Android’s next OS version), the Nexus Tablet, Google’s Assistant (Majel) and Google Project Glass. We know all the great news won’t end there, though. I am still waiting for my Android light bulbs and Android@Home products. Let’s hope we hear some more about that, as well.

We would like to see what everyone’s opinion is! What do you think Google will announce/do at this year’s Google IO? What are you most excited about? What would you like to see?

Also, remember we are giving away all our Google IO gifts. You definitely have to stay tuned for that, as you may end up with some of our goodies in your hands!
