All the drama surrounding the Android 4.0 update of the HTC Desire HD has officially come to an end. In an official statement about the HTC Desire HD’s Android 4.0 update status, HTC has announced that the handset will no longer be getting the update due to a degraded customer experience. According to HTC, the decision was made after “extensive testing” and it was determined that handset owners would be served better if the phone remained on its current software build.

After extensive testing, HTC has determined that the current version of HTC Sense with Android provides customers with the best experience on the HTC Desire HD. When we consider new versions of software, we weigh a number of factors, but ultimately the customer experience on the product is the deciding factor. We apologize for any confusion this change may have caused our customers.HTC

HTC Desire HD owners will certainly be disappointed with this announcement. HTC has not given us any indication that the AT&T HTC Inspire 4G and Verizon HTC Thunderbolt’s Android 4.0 updates has been scrapped, but we’d say it’s safe to assume that both handsets will live out their remaining days on Android 2.3.

Are you disappointed, frustrated or mad about HTC’s decision to drop the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the HTC Desire HD?
