Remember a few weeks back when Marvel was giving away more than 700 first-issue digital comic books? Remember how it clogged up the servers and pretty much amounted to a big bust? Marvel is back, hoping to  right things with a second effort.

If you missed out on the first go’round or hopes to get in on the first issue loving, you can sign up for access to the giveaways. Unlike the last time, this giveaway is staged in waves. Starting this Thursday, Marvel will begin issuing emails with instructions on how to redeem some freebies. It’s not immediately clear how long the entire deal will last so sit tight; it could be weeks before you’re in the door.

A few new details for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Mega series of handsets have landed online, providing new clues as to what lies ahead for the large devices.

As it now stands, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 is slated to feature a 5.8inch qHD (960×540) LCD display, a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 2600 mAh battery. Reportedly, the phone will be housed in a thin, sub-10mm thick chassis and will be offered in a DUOS (dual-SIM) variant.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 may boast a dual-core Exynos processor, a display with in-cell touch LCD panel, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

Each device is expected to run Android Jelly Bean with the custom Samsung TouchWiz Nature UX. Sadly, it’s still unclear as to when, where, and how much.

HTC, now more than ever, needs the HTC One to help save the company from falling completely into obscurity. The handset maker today indicated that it will report its lowest quarterly profit on record for Q1 2013.

Unaudited earnings are expected to be down 98% year over year on a net profit of a mere $2.8 million. With sales of $1.4 billion, HTC is definitely feeling the brunt of the HTC One delay.

With the HTC One arriving right around the same time as the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC will not have it an easier in the second quarter.

New leaks seemingly confirm Google’s unified messaging ‘Babel’

The case for the unified messaging system known as “Babel” seems to grow a little more legitimate by the day. This past weekend saw a number of details surface which definitely appear to indicate some internal Google testing is going on as we speak.

With Google I/O 2013 taking place in around one month’s time we might expect to see more information in the coming weeks. The annual event would be the most logical place to debut something of this order.

Download early pre-release version of Facebook Home for your Android

So you’re excited about Facebook Home and cannot wait until April 12 to get your hands on it. Maybe you’re one of those people who doesn’t own one of the “approved” models and still wants to try it out. Whatever the case, you can take things into your own hands with the pre-release version of the app.

The MoDaCo team recently scored a pre-release build of the Home APK  which should closely resemble final experience. Note that by downloading and installing the app you are taking a bit of a risk and that things may not go as nicely as you’re hoping. Honestly, if you could wait a couple more days… maybe it’s worth it; don’t need to sour your taste, right?

MoDaco indicates that you’ll need a device with a “maximum resolution of 1280 x 768 and the ability to completely uninstall your existing Facebook app”.

The leak itself is 3 separate APK files - Facebook app (‘katana’), the now-integrated-with-your-SMS Messenger app (orca) and the Home / Launcher ‘shell’ app (home).
