Although Twitter is making it tough for developers to produce clients for the social media platform, the problems for Falcon Pro being a prime example, there is still interest out there in producing a better way to access the world’s tweets. Earlier today the developers of Carbon for Android, Dots and Lines, announced a major update to the app. Probably foremost amongst the new features is the inclusion of a widget, although the addition of an in-app browser and the YouTube API enabling in app video playback may be even more popular.

Other improvements include things like the ability to change the font sizes of tweets, support for Vine timelines, people search, and favorites and mentions can now be accessed from a user’s profile. Carbon for Android users now have some options for quote formats and a new image viewer screen. Of course, there were a bunch of bug fixes as well.

The developers also promise they will start releasing updates more frequently, although they may not be as extensive as this one. When Carbon for Android was released earlier this year, it was one of the most anticipated clients to hit the Google Play Store. With Twitter’s moves to limit third-party clients, it is nice to see a developer still working on their client. If you want to give Carbon for Android a try, use one of the download links below to grab the free app, though you do need Android 4.0 or better.
