Droid Ultra press images leaked, too

Posted: 08 Jul 2013 10:51 AM PDT

Droid-Ultra-503x460

It what is becoming a total flood of Motorola news, the press images of the Droid Ultra have leaked online. Looking nearly identical to the Droid Maxx photos that recently surfaced, the phone features the broad shoulders and Kevlar coating that has been present for a few generations.

There are no new hardware specs to share; however, rumors still peg the handset with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, 2GB, and a full HD display in the vicinity of 5-inches or so. While the Moto X won’t be hardware heavy we might expect nothing less for the iconic Droid lineup.

Samsung to launch four variants of the Galaxy Note III?

Posted: 08 Jul 2013 09:51 AM PDT

It is that time of the week when we see a juicy rumor about the Samsung Galaxy Note III. We have been hearing a lot that Samsung is preparing the successor to the Note II. Although, the new rumor is that Samsung is preparing four models of the Galaxy Note III, all targeting different price levels and going from high-end to low-end variants, reported Korean site ETNews.

Each smartphone will have different specifications, however the names are unknown right now. It is said that the high-end model will be a limited edition smartphone, featuring specs like a 13MP camera and unbreakable AMOLED display, and may be a 3GB RAM.

Featured galaxy noteOther models will feature a plastic body. Second version will feature a 13MP camera with a regular AMOLED display, third version will feature a 13MP camera and a LCD display, and the low-end version will feature an 8MP camera with LCD display.

It is just a rumor, so lets take all of this with a grain of salt. But even if its real, I don’t think so there’s any point to launch four models. Just one Galaxy Note III with high-tier specs would be enough, and if someone wants to get their hands on something mid-tier, they can get the Galaxy Note II, as it will be available for a low price by that time. Hopefully, we will see the announcement at IFA 2013 in September, so stay tuned.

Anyway, what do you think about it? Should Samsung launch just one high-end Note III with jaw-dropping specs or there should be four models like mentioned above? Tell us about it in the comment box below.

lg_teaser_g2_have you_blurred

LG is not being very subtle about its upcoming August 7 event in New York. We’ve been expecting that the presser would feature the next-generation of its flagship series; LG just makes it more clear today.

Below you’ll find a short teaser video for something from LG which just happens to end with “Great 2 have you”. Called, “To me, you are perfect. From G…” it alludes to something in New York on August 7. It just so happens that LG’s latest invitation also dances around the same subject.

The latest round of chatter for the upcoming LG smartphone include word of a Snapdragon 800 processor, at least 2GB RAM, a 5.2-inch 1080p HD display, and rear buttons.

Droid Ultra spied with white chassis

Posted: 08 Jul 2013 06:50 AM PDT

What you’re looking at here is alleged to be the first shot of the Droid Ultra, an unannounced Motorola smartphone headed for Verizon. Bearing the model number of XT1080 there’s little known about the actual hardware inside the device.

We’re liking the white look here and hope that Motorola offers it on day one; forget that “limited edition” stuff or secondary color that shows up months later.

We’ve heard rumors that Motorola is planning to offer their Moto X in a variety of colors however we haven’t seen anything like that for the Droid Ultra or its counterparts.

Do you like the idea of a white Motorola smartphone? Would you be willing to switch to Verizon for a Droid?

Staples drops prices on all Nexus 7 devices, new Nexus may be looming

Posted: 08 Jul 2013 06:35 AM PDT

If you’re in the mood for speculation, put on your monocles and grab your corncob pipes, and indulge me for a moment.

nexusae0_n7_thumb

From leaks and rumors all over the internet, we’re seeing signs of a brand-spankin’-new Nexus 7-ish device coming soon to a phoneaholic near you. Retailers have been doing their best to clear out their inventory by dropping prices and offering incentives across the board. Now, Staples has lowered their prices, to include:

  • Nexus 7 32GB $199.99 ($50 off)
  • Nexus 7 16GB $179.99 ($20 off)

Now, to the naked eye, that may sound like just another sale, but we like to look a little further into things than that. Staples looks like they’re trying to clear out some space for new product with that pricing, and it may very well be for the oft-rumored new Nexus 7. These prices bring the devices below what you can get them for from Google, and even come with free shipping (unless you just get it in-store). Plus, with a ShopDiscover card, you can save an additional 5%.

Thoughts? Be sure to let us know below.

Leaked image of DROID MAXX surfaces

Posted: 08 Jul 2013 05:51 AM PDT

BOd7rxMCQAAl4V3 (1)

The first seemingly legitimate press image of the upcoming Droid Maxx smartphone has leaked, providing a glimpse as to what lies ahead for Verizon customers. The photo, accompanied here, shows the same familiar design we’ve seen from the last few generations of Motorola handsets. The angular shoulders are slightly more round however there’s no mistaking this for an HTC or Sony.

We can also make out what appears to be the same Kevlar skin coating over the bottom of the phone; we assume this model will be just as thin and lifeproof as its predecessors.

No indications yet, sadly, as to when we might anticipate the launch of the Droid Maxx and its multiple iterations.
