A report from Korea claims that the Samsung may have chosen Qualcomm as the main processor provider for its next-gen Galaxy Note model, instead of its Exynos 5 Octa line.

ETNews has it from sources familiar with the matter that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 may have been preferred as the main CPU for the Galaxy Note 3 at launch, as Samsung is still encountering some issues with its eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processors.

The publication says that the first Galaxy Note 3 units will have the Snapdragon 800 inside – apparently 4 million units will get Qualcomm CPUs.

However, about 20-30% of future Galaxy Note 3 units will have an Exynos 5 Octa CPU inside, specifically the Exynos 5420 model, the report says.

The Exynos 5420 should offer an overall better performance than the Exynos 5410 model that was used in the Galaxy S4, and which ETNews says it had design errors which lead to heat-related issues.

We will remind you that we've seen already a few reports detailing specs and features for two Galaxy Note 3 version, one based on Qualcomm's flagship processor and one based on Samsung's big.LITTLE chips. Furthermore, additional reports even provided a detailed list of markets for each of the two models.

Considering that there's nothing official just yet, we'll just have to wait and see what Galaxy Note 3 versions Samsung will launch this fall. But it'll certainly be interesting to see whether there are any issues with Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa chips that prevent the company from deploying them in larger numbers in its flagship devices.
