Sep 4th 2013, 22:08, by Darcy LaCouvee

Samsung Galaxy Note 3

In less than a 12 hour period, we’ve had a ton amazing Android tech flow through our cameras, keyboards and minds! We have seen new smartphones, an attachable camera lens, several tablets and even a new smartwatch. It’s been a crazy day!

With IFA in full swing, we have been working hard to bring our readers everything there is to know about Samsung’s Note 3, as well as the Galaxy Gear and Note 10.1. This includes hands-on videos, device comparisons and even just general information about release targets and pricing. Outside of the Samsung camp, there’s also been exciting announcements from Sony, Asus and several other manufacturers.

Finding it hard to keep up with all the announcements the day has delivered? Luckily, we’ve taken the time to gather up some of the most exciting IFA-related news, announcements and videos, all in the name of putting them in one convenient place.

So let’s jump in and take a look.

Samsung Announcements – IFA 2013

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Hands on!

Samsung claims to have listened very closely to its fan base when developing the Note 3, and it certainly shows. The Note 3 is an impressive update to the Note family and brings with it welcome upgrades in several significant areas. Samsung managed to fit a 5.7 inch 1080p HD Super AMOLED display into a body slimmer than the Note 2. It features superior optics, with a 13MP rear camera. It has a 3200 mAh battery, larger than the Note 2′s. Most importantly though is the fact that it includes what people really want – expandable storage and removable batteries.

The latest flagship even manages to ditch the company’s tradition of using glossy plastic in favor of faux leather. For more info on the Galaxy Note 3, see these posts:

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs LG Optimus G Pro: Quick Look

When the LG Optimus G Pro touched down at MWC, we couldn’t help but be amazed. Slim bezels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor? Now that the Note 3 is out, we now wonder how the LG Optimus G Pro will hold up when put beside the Note 3.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs LG G2: Quick Look

Starting with the Optimus G and G Pro, LG has really been stepping up its game. The LG G2 is no exception.

From a hardware standpoint, the LG G2 is somewhat similar to the Note 3, but with a smaller, more manageable 5.2-inch display. Of course if you really want a stylus, the Note 3 is the obvious choice.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs Apple iPhone 5: Quick Look

While some of you might consider this comparison to be a bit ridiculous, we still received requests to do it. Apple’s iPhone still holds up reasonably well, for, well, an iPhone, but looks like a bit like a toy next to the behemoth multitasking powerhouse that is the Galaxy Note 3.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs Note 2: Quick Look

The Galaxy Note 2 holds a special place in our heart here at Android Authority, and for good reason. It can take a beating, it has a battery that won’t quit, and now that Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Note 3, it will have a substantial price drop. What’s not to love?

Big brother vs little brotherWhich of Samsung’s flagships is right for you? The answer comes down to personal preference, but perhaps our quick comparison can help you decide.

Samsung Galaxy Gear Hands on!

I am still blown away by the Galaxy Gear, but let’s reserve true judgement until we get a chance to review one more thoroughly. Bottom line, more screens are good. Anything to compliment, boring, analogue reality, right?

The new Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition might not be as ground-breaking of an announcement as the Gear, or as exciting as the Note 3's unveiling – but it is still a solid refresh of the original Note 10.1.

From pricing to specs and features, we have it all covered. Head here for details.

Sony Announcements – IFA 2013

Sony Xperia Z1

While Samsung certainly hit IFA hard with some great announcements, they aren’t the only company that brought their A-game.

Earlier today, Sony took the wraps off the highly anticipated Sony Xperia Z1, formerly known by the codename of Honami. With a Snapdragon 800 processor, 5-inch full HD display and stunning aesthetics, the Sony Xperia Z1 looks to be a pretty impressive handset.

While we have yet to learn pricing or release info for the Xperia Z1, we did get detailed specs for the device. Additionally, we took the time to pit the on-paper specs and features of the Xperia Z1 against the Galaxy S4.

We have known for a while now about the Xperia QX lenses, but that doesn’t make the official announcement any less exciting.

If you are looking to take your smartphone photo-taking experience to the next level without buying a whole new device, this could be the perfect accessory for you.

Other Announcements – IFA 2013

While Samsung and Sony have been the biggest hitters at IFA, that’s not to discount some of the other manufacturers out there. Asus, for example, unveiled quite a few new products today including the MemoPad 10, MemoPad 8, Transformer Pad TF701T, and several moreAlcatel also unveiled a new smartphone today, and over the last few days, Acer has even made a few product announcements.

Out of all the many devices and products announced, which are you most excited for? As always, stay tuned to Android Authority for more IFA coverage!
