Every year (practically every month) our grown-up toys get more and more advanced. Screens get bigger, with higher resolutions, processors get faster, and cameras get better. With this progression, it's only natural that our kids' toys would follow suit.
Oregon Scientific, creator of the awesome Smart Globe, has announced that they will release the MEEP!, a 7-inch Android-based tablet specifically aimed at kids (ages 6 and up), with "music, movies, e-books, and apps from leading developers." The tablet will come with Wi-Fi built-in, as well as an SD card slot which will hopefully be able to house some movies and kid shows for long trips.
Aimed at surviving a kid, the MEEP! is built tougher than the traditional tablet and will come with a rubber silicon sleeve for protection. It'll have Internet access as well, but this will be able to be monitored (and hopefully blocked to an extent) via a parent portal that can be accessed from any Internet-connected PC. What sounds really promising is the fact that Oregon Scientific will be releasing accessories for the MEEP!, including musical instruments, making it obvious that they're aiming for a very well-rounded educational device. There's no mention of a release date or a price as of yet, but I'm sure it'll be announced with the full release of the device at this year's Toy Fair, hosted by the Toy Industry Association.
The full press release can be found below. So is this something you'd grab for your own children? What are your thoughts on kid-based electronics? Let us know in the comments!

Mobile World Congress is right around the corner, and it seems that HTC is planning to launch bundle of devices at the event. PocketNow managed to get "first test photos" of 5 smartphones and a tablet, which is eerily similar to last year, when HTC announced 6 new devices at the mega event: 1 tablet and 5 smartphones. At any rate, the test photos below don't give us much information, but at least we have some names to ponder until more info is released.

This picture was allegedly taken with the HTC Vertex (Quattro), a global Android tablet.

The HTC Fireball makes another appearance with this photo, and word on the street is that the device will end up being the Droid Incredible 3 on Verizon.

The much-discussed HTC Endeavor, which may launch as the HTC Edge, apparently snapped this photo. Obviously it doesn't give us any information, other than some eating habits of whoever took these pictures.

Moving along, the HTC Ville shows off a nice camera with this shot, and gives some T-Mobile users hope that the device will land on Magenta's network.

The HTC Totem, rumored to be headed for AT&T, caught a nice painting in this photo.

Finally, the HTC Evita is apparently in the hands of someone that likes long walks on the beach and watching the sunset. All jokes aside, the Evita is supposedly packing a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 720p display, and LTE capabilities.
Stay tuned to AndroidGuys for the latest coverage on all the mentioned devices! So is anyone else excited for MWC? Do you think HTC will steal the show? Sound off in the comments!

It seems that Samsung is working on Ice Cream Sandwich for the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note, as Eldar Murtazin is saying that Sammy will launch the update for both devices on March 1st. Eldar also told us about the Galaxy S II Plus, which is rumored to be arriving in April.
If we go back in the past, Eldar has always been true and accurate about his words, so hopefully we can expect the update for both Galaxy Note and S II soon. Of course, an official statement from Samsung wouldn't hurt. As always with rumors of this type, we're not making any bets on it until we get confirmation.
So, we want to hear from you! Are any Galaxy Note or Galaxy S II users out there getting excited for March 1st? Do you think Samsung will deliver on this rumored release? Drop a comment below!
