HTC has just taken the wraps off their all new company blog they’ve created to give customers, users and fans the inside scoop on all things HTC. Everything from how their phones are designed, to Beats Audio integration and even a behind the scenes look at HTC and some of the crazy personalities of their employees and customers.

Aside from their “hello” announcement, they’ve also teased a box of new devices ready to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress. While it’s tough to see through their protective bubble wrap, I suspect it will be something amazing. I’m rooting for HTC and hopefully this new line of devices — the HTC One V, HTC One S and HTC One X — will be enough to get them back on top.
Press conference starts on Sunday so make sure you keep it locked to Phandroid where the better half of our team will be reporting live from the event.

Somethings going on at Sprint. Apparently, Dan Hesse and co. were about to announce a merger today with Metro PCS to the tune of $8 billion and just hours away from going public, Sprint’s Board of Directors pulled the plug. This doesn’t bode well for CEO Dan Hesse who was essentially vetoed by the board. Could Sprint be up to something else? Lord knows they need all the help they can get. We’ll keep you updated.

Chrome Beta for Android has seen an update today that left many users scratching their heads. With no changelog under the “What’s New” section in the Market, people had no idea what actually changed. One thing many people did notice was a major performance increase sending their browser into overdrive, scanning entire image archives of Selena Gomez in milliseconds. The other thing rooted users noticed, is the app is now all but useless after the update so for all you custom ROM flashers out there — PROCEED WITH CAUTION.
After a short wait, Google did finally post their changelog via their official Chrome blog and here’s what you can look forward to in Chrome Beta 1.1 (0.16.4215.215):
  • Android Beam support – now beam URLs from Chrome to other devices with NFC.
  • Support for additional countries
  • Compatibility checks to ensure system prerequisites for Chrome are met
  • Essential bug fixes
Known issues
  • 112923 : No way to toggle between mobile/desktop UA
  • 113140 : YouTube Links Do Not Prompt For Which Application to Use
  • 113132 : Chrome for Android beta doesn’t support configured proxy in wi-fi settings
  • Other notable issues listed here

It’s been a long time coming, but Samsung has finally made available their official landscape dock for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus via their official site. The difference between this and some of those other less official docks is this one comes with the handy 3-pin connectors for less invasive charging of your device while it’s nestled snugly in the dock.
Might wanna ask the Mrs. before buying though, at $90 a pop, official accessories like this don’t come cheap. Hit up the source link if you’re going to take the plunge.

I’ve seen it talked about a few times in our comments section and while the general feeling surrounding bezels is that the smaller the better, we still haven’t seen a smartphone — or tablet for that matter — with a near “bezeless” display.
Well, it looks like that could soon be changing with Samsung rumored to be ushering-in the era of non-existent bezels with their rumored Galaxy B smartphone. Samsung has long been one of the Android OEM’s to feature a great screen-to-bezel ratio and it seems they may have finally figured out how to go all-screen.
A smartphone with no bezel was never a reality until Android 4.0 stepped onto the scene and did away with physical buttons altogether. Call me old-fashioned, but I’ve always liked having a little bottom area with actual physical, physical buttons (not that capacitive junk) where I could rest my fingers without having to worry I’m dialing an ex-girlfriend or deleting emails. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve exited out of a game because I accidentally hit that home button during intense gaming sessions.
We could see something at Mobile World Congress in just a few short days so we’ll have to wait and see if Samsung can deliver. What do you guys think about a bezel-less phone? Pretty to look at but not really user friendly? Or is this the stuff green-dreams are made of?

Google’s makin’ big moves lately, doing what they can to stay on top of the patent war. Their newest patent? A gesture system that could soon be making its way to Chrome for Android. Filed back in Q3 of last year, the gesture system works as a sort of easy search function, giving the user to search for content online, without lifting a finger. Simply draw a “g” on the screen and continue to lasso the content you want to search. Want to look-up multiple items? Just move from item to item, circling the content and when you lift, it will all be entered into a search ready for you to do some learning.
Gestures aren’t unfamiliar territory for Android users. Browsers like Dolphin for Android have incorporated them into their apps, and even the popular homescreen replacement Nova Launcher has made use of gestures like 2-finger swipes. Bing for the iPad also shares an eerily similar lasso/search function as the one Google is attempting to patent. As usual, we just have to wait around for the USTPO to approve or deny the patent sometime in 2037.
What do you guys think? Any gesture fiends out there? Think this would make a solid addition to Chrome Beta for Android?

Could it have something to do with color variations? Maybe some kind of new IPS display that will melt your eyeballs from their sockets? Truth be told, we have no idea what ASUS is getting at with their newest teaser trailer uploaded today. I guess there’s a good chance it might not even be Android related. In any case, the world is listening, ASUS and you have our attention. Now make it good. Android good.

Well, know more come Sunday, when MWC 2012 kicks off. My guess is red/orange, black and blue tablets. What do you think ASUS could be teasing in this vid?
