Check Out This Awesome Metro UI Theme for All ICS and Honeycomb Tablets

Posted: 08 Apr 2012 09:31 AM PDT

Now here’s a cool one for you tablet users that like to tweak the appearance of your UI! XDA member BroBot175 has created a Metro UI theme for all tablets running Honeycomb or ICS! The theme is a fully functioning replica of Windows 8 that allows you to create your own tiles, and organize them however you want.

I flashed this theme over a week ago on my Galaxy Tab when the project was in its infancy and now its gotten polished enough for daily use. BroBot175 has even recently added support all ICS and Honeycomb tablets because he was getting so many requests for added support. Just like any other theme you simply flash in ClockworkMod Recovery and will then have to transfer over the tile images to get started. Set-up can take a while because you have to plot out every single tile using Desktop Visualizer widgets but if you follow the devs step by step instructions you should have no problems at all. So for those of you who like to customize the look of your device and want something completely different than the ICS or Honeycomb layout, you really should check this theme out! Review: Frisbee Forever Makes Tossing Frisbees Fun Again

Posted: 08 Apr 2012 07:06 AM PDT

When you think of the frisbee, you think of some good times: tossing the plastic disc at the park with your dog, your friends at the beach or in a heated battle of frisbee golf. While the game is no doubt fun in real life, how does it fare on Android? Two words: it’s awesome. Thanks to Frisbee Forever’s simple concept, addictive gameplay and solid graphics, Frisbee Forever is no doubt one of the most underrated and addictive games out there in gaming world.

The game features a big punch in a small package. Developed by Kiloo Games, the game allows you to play in 12 worlds (plus a bonus world) featuring 10 levels each trying to navigate your frisbee through what is a surprisingly challenging, but cute obstacle course collecting as many stars as possible which helps you level up and buy new cool frisbees. Challenging isn’t a bad thing either— you’ll have to navigate your way around by literally steering your frisbee through the level. This is done by using tilt or tap controls— which both feel incredibly awkward at first, but once you get the hang of the feel, you’ll be a pro in no time flat. The graphics are a major plus too– there are nice details and colorful animations that can be found on both the tablet and smartphone versions of the game. If there’s one minor quirk, it’s the soundtrack— lots of developers seem to be lazy by having a simple track loop over and over and over and over. I found myself having to mute the sound and play my own music in the background in order to get me in a bit of a groove with the game. At least the sound effects are decent.

Despite the mundane soundtrack, Frisbee Forever is a great game that all Android gamers will enjoy. But be forewarned, there’s a slight learning curve, so be ready to spend a short while learning how to get a feel for the game before dismissing it. The game is free for all Android 2.1+ devices, so be sure to give the game a whirl by hitting the Play Store link or the QR code below.

T-Mobile HTC One S aces benchmark test

Posted: 08 Apr 2012 05:07 AM PDT

There’s nothing quite like comparing benchmark scores to work up mobile phone lovers into a frenzy. If past ventures have taught us anything it’s that the best benchmark scores don’t always equate to the best real life performance but that doesn’t stop us checking to see exactly what score our latest and greatest gadget can achieve. The Quadrant benchmark test is one of the better known benchmark tools for Android and the T-Mobile branded HTC One S is the latest device to be put through its paces and we’re pleased to report that it passes with flying colours.

HTC’s latest must-have device with its Snapdragon S4 dual-core 1.5GHz processor scored an impressive 4729 which places it streets ahead of high end devices like the Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S II. Who needs quad-core!

Our friends over at TmoNews also discovered some other interesting points about the device. T-Mobile US look set to have a 180 exclusive on the One S which is expected to launch mid April. The launch model is also expected to have a blue tint to the bodywork with the black and red trim variant launching later in June. The phone will also be receiving “Mao” treatment which stands for “Micro-Arc-Oxidation”. To you and I that means that the ceramic surface is 3 times stronger than steel, sounds good to me!

Keep tuned in to TalkAndroid and we’ll keep you posted as to when HTC’s faster than light and stronger than steel super-phone finally hits the market.
