Motorola Roadster 2 review

Posted: 14 Jun 2012 02:40 PM PDT

Did you know that June is considered Responsible Driving month?  No?  Now you do.  Did you know that you can save yourself all kinds of potential trouble on the road by having a Bluetooth speakerphone in the car with you?  Yeah, we figured you knew that much.  Here's one - did you know that Motorola's Roadster 2 is one of the best devices in class?  We know, because we've reviewed one.

We'll not bore you with describing what a Bluetooth speakerphone is because, fundamentally, they are all pretty much the same.  We will tell you, however, some of the things that we enjoyed with the Motorola Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone.

The FM transmitter is one of the first features we look for in Bluetooth devices for cars as it allows you channel your phone audio throughout the car.  Prefer to listen to Slacker, Stitcher, or Pandora instead of the local radio?  This is the type of feature that allow for that. Once you get used to having this in a car accessory you return to it time and again.  On a more practical note, it lets the driver (and passengers) hear conversations much louder and clearer than they would normally have through speakerphone.  The Roadster 2's speaker is louder and clearer than whatever you get from a normal phone experience, however it's not rich in bass or anything fancy.  You're not watching movies or playing games here so it's really a non-issue.

We also appreciate the ability to connect two smartphones to the Roadster 2 as it allows us to share the tech with others in the car.  We stayed extra safe and hands-free when we let our navigator (passenger) pull up turn-by-turn maps and play with the music. Should either one of our phones ring, we use the speakerphone and connect safely, using voice.

Speaking of voice (get it?), the Roadster 2 lets users answer and ignore calls, have text messages read aloud, respond to texts via voice, and more.  There's a wonderful app in Google Play that really enhances this experience so do grab that when you order your device. What's more, the Find My Car app from Motorola marks your parked location and guides you back when you are ready to leave.

Battery life promises up to 20 hours of talk time and/or three weeks of standby time.  Seeing as how our phones never last that long, we've yet to deplete the battery.  We simply charge both at the same time and don't worry about the speakerphone.  Charging is done via microUSB and take no time at all.

Motorola's retail price for the Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone is $99.99 however Amazon has them for about $75 right now.  Grab one in the name of Responsible Driving and do your part to keep the roads safer.

Father’s Day Sale has AT&T offering Galaxy S II for just $9.99

Posted: 14 Jun 2012 01:39 PM PDT

AT&T recently confirmed that they will be launching the Samsung Galaxy S III soon, which is a yet another amazing device from the Korean giant. Though we can't forget the AT&T Galaxy S II; it's one of the best selling Android devices ever and still a cool to hangout with. As the successor is about to hit the shelves, AT&T is trying to clear the old inventory by making a pretty good deal.

Father's Day is around the corner and AT&T is right now offering the Galaxy S II for just $9.99 with a 2-yr contract until June 17, and AT&T wants you to surprise your father this year by giving him this amazing device as a gift, and I am sure he will enjoy it. My personal experience is that mostly fathers prefer devices like iPhone or Blackberry, so it's time to move them to the next generation of mobile world by gifting them one of the best Android phones of all time.

Although it's not the best Samsung available in the market, but I am sure it will make your dad happy. The device does not have 4G LTE connectivity, and comes with Super AMOLED 480 x 800 resolution screen, however everything else is same. Are you planning to buy one for your dad or it could be a good deal for yourself as well, tell us what are your plans in the comment box below.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich voted best user experience by Parsons

Posted: 14 Jun 2012 05:54 AM PDT

There's no denying it: Android 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich", has been a major improvement to the Android name. The new sleek design, the intuitive interface... it all comes together beautifully for the end-user. The platform itself has grown from its infancy, where the experience tended to be laggy, and many apps had issues working across devices. With ICS, we're seeing Google's best efforts put forward, and are glad to see what it's done for our devices.

Now, the ICS platform has been given the Parsons School of Design User Experience 2012 award, effectively sealing the deal on just how great the overhaul is. While many users have yet to experience ICS on their devices, with an upgraded phone comes an upgraded experience, and we suggest getting an ICS device.

What are your thoughts on Android 4.0? love it, hate it? Let us know in the comments below.

The offer is only good for new accounts and eligible upgrades, and is only for a limited time. How limited? We don't know, so if you're scouting for one of these devices, I'd hurry. This is an online-only sale, as most BB stores don't even carry T-Mobile devices in-store. Hit up this link to check it out.
